I'm heartbroken! T&P please!!! (NBR)

My husband left the gate open after he mowed the grass this afternoon. My 10 year old Pomeranian got out when I let him out to go potty. I thought someone else had let him back in while I was nursing DD. I didn't know he was missing until after he'd been gone nearly 5 hours!!!! I'm beyond heartbroken! DS doesn't know yet and I am dreading having to tell him in the morning. I walked our entire neighborhood and talked to several neighbors but no sign of him anywhere. Tomorrow I will be calling local vets and the shelters as well as posting signs. Hopefully someone finds him!

  • Unfortunately he is not microchipped. I will be calling everywhere he could have possibly been taken. Thank you everyone.

Nothing yet. I drove around for an hour putting up signs. Called both animal controls in the area. Called 5 vet clinics, and posted on FB to every lost pet/pet rescue/shelter page in the city. My husband went to the pounds and he wasn't there. DS has been looking all over the house convinced he's still here. He has already asked several times where he is. Breaks my heart. I didn't get much sleep because I kept checking the back yard to see if maybe he came back. I've been crying so much. My eyes are burning and puffy. I feel absolutely terrible. He's old and not in the best shape health wise. We live in Louisiana and it was 90+ degrees out when he got out. I'm terrified I'm going to find him dead on the side of the road somewhere. :((

  • Honestly, with an old dog I would call your vet and see if he should be seen. I'd worry he fell in the ditch because he was hit or that he's overheated or dehydrated. Glad he's home!

  • Yay! So happy you found him. I would definitely take him to the vet and then give him all the treats.
  • So glad he's home!

Great point! I worked for our vet as a veterinarian assistant for 7 years before I quit to be a SAHM. She is aware of the situation. If I notice anything out of the norm for him I will absolutely take him in. He is scheduled for his yearly checkup and vaccines on the 24th.
