Anyone have a recommendation for medicine that works for babies with GERD symptoms? My boy is 5 weeks & has terrible reflux, constant spit ups, & is in obvious pain. Anyone found a medicine that works?
ETA: We started at around 8 weeks & he got off around his first birthday. We tried EVERYTHING before we put him on the meds & my only regret was that I didn't do it sooner. It took about a week and a half to work but after that he was a totally different baby.

Our pedi prescribed Zantac if say feedings are 90% less dramatic. All projectile vomiting and spit up through the nose stopped within a few days. Tomorrow will be a week since starting meds, everyone in the house is a lit happier. Now I know when he cries during feedings that he is gassy and I burp him and everything is fine again.
We were prescribed Zantac and also told 1 cc of maalox to put out the fire whenever needed. According to pediatrician Zantac can take up to two weeks to reach it fullest benefit so maalox will help immediately. Baby loves the maalox bad can live without the Zantac . Also elevate after feeding and thicken milk. If breastfeeding this doesn't apply bc beitger rice nor oatmeal seemed to thicken breastmilk for us. FYI rice cereal can cause constipation ask your pedi if you can go with oatmeal right off the bat. It might save you some aggregation. Also Beechnut oatmeal is finer than gerber if you have any concerns with baby choking.
Sorry for spelling or grammar errors I've only slept two hours bc of LO having bad gas.
DD1 was on Zantac. It worked great, and she was off by 9 months old.
DD2 is a whole different story.. She has been on Zantac, Prilosec, Prevacid Solutabs, and now she is on Prevacid compounded liquid and we are working with a GI specialist. She has only just switched to the Prevacid liquid from the Solutabs (per the GI team's request) and her reflux has been worse the past few days, I personally think she was doing better on the Solutabs but they think the liquid is supposed to be more effective.
