If you've been benched - come on over, have a seat, there's plenty of room!

2. How long will you be staying with us?

3. How do you feel about being benched?

With us last week? Update us on how you're doing, whether it's IF related or not :) Remember you're one week closer to being off the bench!!

Re: ~[The Benched Check-in]~ June 11th 2014!

  • Oh my, last week was insanely busy at work that I was too tired to post anything. I volunteered a couple of months ago to be one of the schedulers at work (on top of my regular duties!). One of the Techs who also has whiplash from a car accident she had a month ago, suddenly was put on sick leave, and we had to scramble to try and cover all of her shifts for at LEAST the next two weeks.  This did not help my own whiplash from my car accident two weeks ago! But it is slowly getting better. I started massage therapy today, so I am expecting to feel the ache in my muscles tomorrow!

Tomorrow will be the one month countdown for DH's SA (with RE apt. a week later). He quit smoking about 2 and a half months ago, and has been on Arimidex for 2 months. I finally feel like we are getting close!

QOTWI make a lasagne that my hubby loooovvvvveeeessss! I swear he can eat the whole pan in one sitting if he could. I made honey mustard chicken breasts last night for the first time, and they were also a big hit :)

I can join this check in for now :)

    1. What brings you over to the bench?  We are benched right now because of our recent loss, a natural m/c at 6.5 weeks.

    2. How long will you be staying with us? I'm honestly not sure right now.  I thought we would only be benched one cycle before returning to treatments.  Then this week when I went in for my final blood draw to officially confirm my betas were at zero, the nurse said they might wait two cycles depending on how long it takes me to get AF.  But if it takes a while for me to get my first post loss AF then we might not have to wait until the next cycle  (WTF??).  I am really confused and we left it at I will call on CD1.  So I'm not sure how long I'll be here.

    3. How do you feel about being benched?  Despite the heartbreak of a loss, we are encouraged that we actually got pregnant, so we are ready to get treatment cycles going again.  Right now I'm ok being benched, but waiting for another cycle seems like an awfully long time.

  • I'm new to the bench!

    1. What brings you over to the bench? A 40mm cyst on my baseline ultrasound last week.

    2. How long will you be staying with us? Hopefully just a few more weeks! I have 15 days of BCPs left, and if my cyst is gone, then I'll start my first injects cycle with IUI 3.1.

    3. How do you feel about being benched? I'm pretty bummed. I was so, so upset at first. I've stopped crying and am trying to pass the time, but I'm definitely counting down the days.

QOTW: It's dinner time! Tell me about some awesome dishes you make at home!

My specialty is enchiladas! I dip both sides of a flour tortilla in enchilada sauce, wipe off the excess sauce, fill it will filling and then roll it up. Then I pour extra enchilada sauce over the top and top with some cheese and bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees! For the filling I have done ground beef with sautéed onion, or shredded chicken with sautéed peppers and onion with seasoning. The possibilities are endless. :-)

@SweetieShellieH‌ I'm glad you're getting close to another SA! Will you be off the bench completely if the results are good??

@aves0708‌ I'm so sorry about your loss. I agree, it is hard to wrap your mind around being benched for more than a cycle. I hope they let you start trying ASAP!

  • I am late to this check-in...

    1. After nearly 3 years of TTC, 4 IUIs, 3 fresh IVFs, and one FET with donor embryos, we've decided it's time to look into further testing before doing any more treatments. I am waiting for my appointment with Dr. Kwak-Kim a Reproductive Immunologist. Once those tests are back and she gives us a treatment plan we will move on to a frozen donor egg cycle. Our eggs are being donated privately, so right now I am also working with a lawyer to draw up a transfer of ownership agreement.

    2. Hopefully only 5 or 6 months. My appointment with Dr. KK is August 27th and my follow up is October 3rd. Since my clinic does batched cycling, the earliest we could cycle is November, but it will depend on if Dr. KK's plan requires treatment before cycling.

    3. I hate treatment breaks, I feel like I am not doing anything productive. I had a 6 month break between IUI #1 and #2, but at least then I had RE consults and testing that needed to be done.

QOTW: Yesterday was rainy and dreary out so I decided to make Chicken Cassarole. It was yummy and I have leftovers for lunch today.

    PAIF/SAIF Welcome!

  • I'll join!

    1. What brings you over to the bench?
Our camping trip and a work trip are scheduled right in the way of treatments for the next two cycles. We are waiting until January to move forward with IVF anyway, so slowing down treatments and trying a couple more IUI's over the next 5 months is probably best anyway.

    2. How long will you be staying with us?
Until August, hoping to dive into a femara/inject IUI immediately after.

    3. How do you feel about being benched?
Some days I'm happy about it, since we've been trying actively for so long without ever taking a break. DH wanted me to still take Femara this cycle, but then I'll need to use OPK's and progesterone to even make it past 7 or 8 days for LP... Then suddenly we are 'trying' again! I'm trying to enjoy not worrying about anything, and just making sure that we BD every other day around the typical middle of my cycle. If everything we've been trying for this long hasn't worked, I'm not convinced it ever will... I'm (hesitantly) betting on IVF at this point.

QOTW: Can't think of anything in particular, but I do love when we make pulled pork nachos...mmmm

  • @lebradford If his SA is good I'm not sure what the plan is. I can't imagine it improving enough for us to do TI alone, and I don't know how many more IUI's I'd want to do. If it's bad, we're moving to IVF. I should be getting AF just before our appointment date so I don't see why we wouldn't start right away. I'd probably be really upset if we weren't allowed to!

  • Hey everyone! I think I missed last week.  I've been benched waiting for an endocrinologist appt that is scheduled for Monday (eek!).  It's been really nice having some freedom over the past few weeks on the bench, and I'm trying to mentally prepare myself to get back into things.  I'm actually super nervous to get back into testing again.  I hate needles, ultrasounds, waiting, stressing, ugh.

QOTW: I have been loving the grill this summer!! This is our first grill and I have been making literally everything on it.  My favs so far are grilled shrimp and asian glazed salmon.
