How does your LO wake up?

My little guy is an absolute BEAR when he wakes up. Like to the point that it's almost humorous! I've tried being super peppy and singing to him. I've also tried cuddling him and letting him wake up slowly. Either way, he's a grump!

So how does your LO wake up? Growly like mine? Or happy as a clam? Any tricks or tips?

  • She wakes up with a pouty face on until I sing her a made up wake up song, then she cracks a big smile. I love my little stinker. :x
  • Like a raging banshee. He so stretches all over the place and arches his back. He's such a grump.

  • My husband is definitely grouchy when he wakes up, so I'm guessing Mr. Man takes after him!

Kinda like DH and I do - stretching, protesting, and trying to snag a few more zzs.

  • Up until this week she would wake up crying. But this week she has been waking up cooing and squeaking. I hope she continues waking up this way it's much more pleasant.
  • Pissed. I am beginning to develop anxiety when night time comes.
  • It's usually gas that wakes him up, so he'll be cranky. But as soon as I help him pass it, he's in good spirits, heh heh.

It's one of her cutest times, lots of smiles and then grumpy later in the day. My MIL told me my happy-go-lucky husband was always like this in the am and my more serious BIL was always grumpy. Not sure there's much you can do :)
This. Morning is definitely her best time. The rest of the day, look out!
  • He used to grunt and stretch a lot. Now be stretches, farts, and sucks on his fingers. When I go and look at him he smiles and wants me to pick him up.
  • Grunting, stretching, wiggling, sucking on her fingers, then big grins when I start talking to her.
  • Sucking on her hand and pissed off nothing is happening! Once I get her diaper off and a fresh one on, she's happy, but then that bottle better be headed her way stat!

  • She starts by wiggling and grunting. If her arms are free from the swaddle, she is throwing them around like crazy. She starts to cry if I take too long to get to her, but about half the time, when I do, she starts smiling. I encourage the smiles by talking excitedly to her, but other than that I wouldn't have any tips.

This exactly. And now that she discovered she has hair she's usually sucking on one hand and twirling her hair with the other.
  • Stretching for ages then some yawning then he starts trying to open his eyes and get them to focus. After he finally focuses on me he looks at me like "Why are we up?" Then he breaks into a smile
  • Pretty much with a giant grrrr, some coos, and a shart.

  • Depends, in the morning after waking from his feeding he smiling & cooing. When he wakes from a nap later in the day it's a lot if waling & crazy arms. He is fine once I give him a boob tho.
  • Chatty and happy. He grunts and coos and smiles and sort of laughs and farts, and it's the best part of his day.

  • Stretches, grunts back arched, mostly with Crys, if he's hungry he wakes up grunting and sucking his hands.
  • Grunts and whines and actually continues to whine until the bottle is drained. Then her is happy. We can't swaddle due to her foot braces so she sleeps stretched out already.
  • Grunts & stretches here as well. He hits the snooze on that a few times & when once he finally opens his eyes- tons of smiles!
  • Pissed off that she doesn't have a bottle in her mouth the second she opened her eyes. She's happy as can be after she eats but girl wakes up seriously hangry!

I open his swaddle and he grunts and stretches and arches his back. I tell him good morning in a really happy voice and he smiles... He let's out some farts normally and then he starts sucking on his hand. I change and then feed.

That's pretty much a running commentary on exactly what I was describing. So damn cute!!
  • Omg! It sounds like I have 4 LOs in his room! All of the grunts and groans! Then, of course, are the endless stretches and back arches! He is just like his Daddy....takes forever to get this kid to open his eyes. LOL
  • It takes an hour for the little diva to fully wake up.. She will stretch, grunt, fart and coo and then back to sleep and repeat until she's ready to open her eyes.

Then she lets out a cry so I know to get her and sucks on her hands and smiles until she has her diaper changed and gets on the boob.
