AW 1 Year! Weaning question too

We made it to one year, woohoo! I had major supply issues in the beginning, LO was small and not gaining well so I turned to EPing, but I kept trying to latch at least once a day. Finally, after 4 months of EP we returned to breastfeeding.

Thank you @theresat858‌ for helping me during that transition. You told me that no supply dip is permanent and that gave me the courage to move forward.

LO is 13 months and we have started the weaning process. I am so sad this is coming to end, but our situation requires it.

We are moving to nursing once per
day. Do I alternate breasts each day or just pick one? I definitely have a stud and dud. I think the duds supply is really tanked, so I'm tempted to just use the stud. Thoughts?

  • Congrats on your 1 year milestone!! No recommendation for the nursing moving forward.

  • I gave up on my dud at 8mo and never looked back. The stress of managing dud was all to much for me. We are close to 13mo's now and just dropped to 2 feeds a day. Now that you are weaning I personally would let dud go. I am a bit lopsided now so plan for that

Yes, LO has not had any issues and we are close to being done so thankfully it worked for us. It can be done So you only nurse one side ever? This would be amazing. I have a dud that I always pump before bed because DD doesn't nurse that side in the evening, but after 30m I'm lucky if I get .5-1oz. I'd love to just not bother.

    Congraulations OP!
