Drinking & cleaning questions

I have a few questions
What are the "rules" when it comes to drinking alcohol and BF? We are going camping this weekend and would like to have a beer or 2 (still haven't had a drink :| ) but I'm not sure how long I would have to wait between feedings. I have frozen milk but would rather save that, I'm not too desperate for a drink.

Just out of curiosity how much milk do you freeze per storage bag? I'm working on building my stash/ increasing my supply so I have to collect my milk throughout the day and have been storing 5oz at a time, should I be storing more?

And last question, what is the safest way to clean toys? I recently bought a used jumperoo and was able to wash the seat cover but trying to figure out how to clean the toys on it.
Thanks :D

  • Thanks ladies! If I drank while I cleaned then maybe stuff would actually get done :D

Also thought this was going to be about cleaning while drinking. It sounds like such a good idea. With beer goggles, my house will be clean in under an hour :)
  • I prefer to store BM in varying sizes because my work schedules varies, some days I only miss 1 feeding, sometimes 8-10. Also, BF babies don't always drink the same amount every feeding. I hate the thought of wasting it!

  • Regarding drinking and cleaning, I prefer a nice red wine, and someone else does the cleaning. ;)

I frequently have a glass with dinner, and LO frequently decides we should all eat together, so if the wine goes straight to my boobs, then I guess he gets some. Lol.

As for cleaning toys, if they are plastic and small (or remove able from a larger item like a bouncer/jumper) then I pop them into a sink of water and wash them as if they were dishes.
Otherwise, a wipe off with a hot, soapy cloth.
Fabric/stuffed toys can be washed with laundry.
Electronic toys...spot clean/wipe off with damp cloth.

  • I second putting things through the dishwasher. If possible, I'd put it in some bleach water then clean with hot soapy water if the dishwasher isn't an option.
I store as much milk in the bag as it will hold...about 9 oz. since my lo eats 4 per feeding I know it won't be wasted when it thaws.
the'rule' I've always heard is the basic 1-hour rule. that is, for every drink you have you must wait an hr to breastfeed because it takes your body 1 hour to metabolize the alcohol from 1 drink. so 1 drink = 1 hr wait, 2 drinks = 2 hr wait and so on. if you're drinking fast/a lot I'd maybe just use formula or frozen milk for the night. have fun!!
