My parents could not decide on a name for me. Here I was, born into this world and still nameless. Nothing my mom suggested my dad liked so when my dad suggested my name my mom said THATS IT!
After both great grandmas on my dad's side. Both had my name. Although it was odd visiting my grandfathers grave, he's buried by his mother. So it's like I'm looking at my grave, same first and (maiden) last name. Heebie jeebies.
I'm the youngest of three girls, and I think my parents were hoping for a boy to pass along the family name "Scott." So when I turned out to be a girl, they randomly picked a name (Kathryn) they thought went with the middle name of Scott.
My great great great (I don't really know how many) grandfather was named Revilo. His mother had made up the name by spelling Oliver backward. She wanted her son to have a name no one else ever had. Flash forward to my mom pregnant with me and reading the journal he kept while fighting in the Civil War. She was moved by his story and wanted to name me after him. She wasn't sure if she'd be bold enough to name me Revilo but she was happy with Oliver. Unfortunately I was born a girl...despite her being positive I'd be a boy... The nurses talked my mother into naming me Olivia. It wasn't popular at the time and my mom hated the name for at least the first month.

Yep, this is pretty much my story too. My mom wanted to name me Jana or Denise but my dad didn't. So she just went with what he suggested (Jane).
Not after anyone but my dad being African American they wanted one child's with an African name and my older brother got the "American" name so I was either Aisha or Imani and they went with Aisha. I couldn't see myself as an Imani. They both mean life though which they chose because my mom said I was full of life already in her stomach. My LO was and is exactly the same as I was
My mom wanted to name me Leah Sage but my dad wanted Rachel Anne daddy won! not sure where it came from, we all have biblical names but I'm not sure if that's the reason
I was born on Easter Sunday & my mom tried to name me bunny. Thank God my dad wouldn't have it! Good lookin out daddy.
So they picked the popular name of the year (Stephanie). In middle school I suffered from common mane syndrome & went through a phase of signing my name "Steffani"... I wanted to be speshell.
My bio dad's name is Loren. My middle name was after a character in Gone With the Wind.
Now, my mother's name sort of has a funny story. My grandparents couldn't agree on a name. They were verbally arguing so loud that they could be heard in the waiting room. My grandmother was a stubborn woman. She looked at the L&D nurse and asked what her name was. She replied, "Bonnie Diane". My mom's name is Bonnie Diane. Lol.
My mom heard my name somewhere. It was gaining in popularity at the time, but my mom decided to give me a made up spelling of it so that I was "unique".
Re: Gtky: your name

She didn't find out the sex and didn't have any names picked. She wasn't a procrastornator or anything.
ETA: But everyone calls me Katie.
I guess my parents liked the name Sara, but thought it was too popular. So, they named me Tara.
My mother's name is Tamara, so sometimes I think she wanted to name me after herself, but won't admit to it. haha.
