So, when I went in for my 1 hour, I ended up nearly passing out a few minutes after the blood draw because my body couldn't handle all the sugar. Of course, I failed on top of it. Today, I went in for my 3 hr. had the fasting draw, drank the yuck, and within 45 minutes, I got nauseous, starting sweating profusely, was completely tachycardic, and started to feel like I was going down again. Baby started out of control kicking. Made it to the one hour draw, but within 5 minutes I projectile vomited everywhere and then keeled over. I was ok a few minutes later, but they obviously had to have me reschedule. I know I'm just going to have the same reaction! Anyone else ever deal with such a strong reaction? Did your doctor end up doing something different for you? My plan is to tentatively reschedule for next Wednesday, as I have a regular OB checkup on Tuesday and can talk to the doctor then. I just want to do what's best for this baby, and my body's not letting me. I'm to the point where I want to just start the diet and get a glucometer.
Re: Alternatives to the 3 hour GTT?
My midwives have always just given me a glucometer for a couple of weeks and had me check fasting and after average breakfasts. The super sugar load isn't what your body would normally have to deal with, so they don't use those tests. I don't know if your OB would be open to it, but it's worth a shot.
4 rounds of clomid, 2 with IUI = BFN
Sorry your body can't handle the sugar. That's got to be frustrating!
