Should I take birth control?

Just go back from the RE, I developed a lovely (apparently big) cyst this past cycle. My choices are to (a) go on birth control this month (recommended) or (b) wait for the cyst to shrink on its own while having a shot at natural conception. I have irregular cycles so choosing to go natural means my cycles will be long with less chances for ovulation. They will not let me go back on fertility meds until the cyst is gone (or much smaller). Going on BC doesn't guarantee the cyst will go away, or even shrink. No one seems to be able to confidently answer if BC will make the cyst shrink faster. Anyone know? 

This past cycle was my first month back on fertility meds in four months. I was so excited to try again and everything looked so promising. I am already deflated from the BFN, and now am benched. Even the doctors seem thoroughly confused at this point.  In addition they are pushing IUI- I have done four cycles, and they typically only let people do 3-4 cycles before moving to the next step. On top of all of this, emotionally, I am feeling so selfish for spending all this time and energy trying for number two, when I have a perfect little guy at home. I wish so much our perfect family of three made me feel 100% content. 

Any one have a suggestions, or a similar experience? do I go A or B?

Cycle #2: 12/2/2013 5mg Letrozole (day 3-7) ... poor response (sono day 12=14mm follicle, day 15=15mm, day 17=16mm); Ovidrel day 19

Cycle #3: 1/5/2014 10mg Letrozole (day 4-8) good response!!! (sono day 13=25mm and 20mm); Ovidrel day 13

Cycle #4: 2/3/2014 Birth Control 

Cycle #5 3/3/2014 Birth Control

Cycle #6 4/3/2014 Natural

Cycle # 7 5/11/2014 10mg Letrozole (day 3-7) good response (sono day 13=22mg and 2x 16mg); Ovidrel day 13

    i think i would do BCPs too because then my next shot to try again wouldn't be dragged on and on. and if you really don't want to do IUI again voice your concern. what you think and feel matters. big hugs about being benched :(

    IUI #2:    Clomid + Follistim = 3 follies. BFN.
    IVF #2.2 May 2015 - horrible response to micro lupron flare protocol: 3R, 3M, 3F. 3dt of 2 Grade 3 embies. BFFN. 

    BFP #7 (beyond surprised again!) 4/26/16. EDD 1/5/17. beautiful betas!!!! and then near-fatal hemorrhagic corpus luteum. turns out baby was ectopic after all; another lap 5/6 (@24dpo).

    I also do the BC - I'm on it right now while I am benched by RE.  If I waited for AF to just happen I could wait months and could end up with cysts due to the PCOS.  In my experience (unfortunately too much time at RE in last year) it is easier for them to set up meds, etc for FET / IVF when you are on BC.

    Ugh, that's so hard. On one hand I HATE being benched and would want to try on our own. On the other hand, when I was benched, i liked having a short cycle so we could move on quickly. And with the chance of natural so slim, it's kind of nice to just know that there's no chance and just not stress about it.

    That probably wasn't helpful at all.

    Don't do this to yourself. You are not selfish AT ALL for wanting another child and doing what you need to do to get it. No one chides fertile women for wanting more children. I keep telling myself, this is my kid! I will do anything for him/her even though he/she's not here yet, just the same as I would do anything to keep my daughter safe and with me.

    As far as the cyst, I'm sorry, that sucks! I had a massive hemorrhagic cycst last year and after being incapacitated by pain 2 days after ovulation 3 (right side) cycles in a row (so really 6 alternate cycles, and it turned out my left tube was a twisty straw so no chance at all those cycles) I finally started seeing my RE and she put me on BC. It worked like a charm and the cyst cleared right up. Being benched is terrible but my opinion is that it's better to be out for one cycle than 3 or 4 waiting on the cyst to clear up on it's own. Let us know what you decide and good luck.

    Hmmmm. I don't have experience with a big cyst, but I had a ton of small ones after my first medicated cycle. I immediately asked RE at the time if I would take BC and he said no, that they would resolve on their own. Maybe size has something to do with it? I was worried the whole time if they'd resolve on their own, so I say go for it! Hopefully it makes your time on the bench shorter! Good luck!
