Closet System

I thought I had a good plan for all the baby clothes, but I'm finding I need more drawer space then I originally thought. Our closet has the single bar across the top and a shelf above the bar. I'd like to get some kind of closet organizer. I'm thinking something that has a few drawers and adds a middle bar that goes half way or something. I looked at Target and didn't find what I'm looking for. I know Home Depot sells systems but I thought I'd ask around and see what people recommend. I'm attaching a picture of something I found online that is similar to what I'm looking for.

Re: Closet System

  • I had my DH put in wire shelving from lowes about halfway down, leaving a space in the middle where I got one of those cheap shelving units from target. Doubled the amount of hanging space and shelving. Here is a picture of what I have so farimage

You can also put a dresser or book shelf in the closet! We have the shelving like pp pic has and it's very handy since u can add baskets/boxes for other things Edit: also wanted to add that there are cloth shelves u can attach to the closet bar that look very similar to what u posted, I use them for shoes they are nice, u can find them at Ross tj target or walmart ;)

  • We have that same bar and I ended up buying 2 closet cubby units (6 cubbies each for those fabric drawers) to put side by side underneath. There is still plenty of room to hang clothes above them. Check out pinterest ideas.
  • We did the closet system a few weeks ago. I got it from Home Depot. We got the Selectives 16 in. White Custom Closet Organizer and then a few shelves and tension rods. It came out awesome. The actual tower isn't real wood, it's fiber board, but it'll do the trick. We just made sure to add a couple extra screws into the wall to make it more secure.

  • That looks really good! My dad is gifting us with a closet organizer. He bought the supplies and will be installing this weekend.
  • You can go on to Lowes/Home Depot/Rubbermaid/Closet Maid's website and they have online closet designers. You put in your measurements and preferences and then it shows you configuration options. They are really fun to play with.
I did the Lowes one and found a system that fits the tiny closet that we have. We ended up using only 1/2 the kit, but it is working for us so far!

  • I sort of created my own system by buying the canvas systems (one for shoes on the right, one for onesies and sleepers on the left) and the double hanging bar.  We also bought a box shelf and are using that too.  (Don't mind the clutter, it's a work in progress!)

The box shelf is in this picture...we needed more boxes so now it's completely full of them.  But we finally have enough space for it all :)
