See, I loved high school and am kinda nostalgic about the whole thing. I see the appeal.

Then again, I was a band geek in my niche. I put tons of effort into what I did and got a lot out of it. We even got to march in a Disney World parade. Good friends, good times.

Now, actually going back to high school, as an impostor? What??

I keep wondering how a 34 year old woman pretends to be a 15 year old for 6 months and manages to get away with it, which also makes me question her mental and emotional health, and then I feel sad about the whole thing.

At first I thought this story would be funny, but it really makes me sad. I truly hope she is able to get some serious therapy out of this.

This reminds me of a Law & Order episode where a woman was doing the same thing. She had been in foster care when she actually was in high school, and was staying with a foster mom who really loved her, but had to move out once she aged out of the system. Something like that.

They had some kind of interesting psychological explanation for why she kept trying to recreate that period in her life by continually posing as a high schooler. The episode was about statutory rape, I think, since she had a high school boyfriend but was almost 30 at that point.

Neither here nor there, I guess, but it raises interesting questions about the mental health of a woman who would do this. I guess there are a lot of reasons why someone might want to relive high school. Ugh, reliving high school... *shudder*

If she was trying to get her diploma, while that is sad it's not an excuse. There are resources for adults to get diplomas, or GED's and pretending to be 15 is not one of them.

I wonder if this is considered Identity theft? Was there a REAL Charity Stevens?

How was she able to enroll with out a birth certificate or identification? And the woman that she was staying with didn't have to prove she had guardianship?
