Hi All! I've been on this site for approx a month w/out posting. So, I thought it was time for an intro. We got a big surprise at the beginning of May. We found out I am pregnant! This wouldn't so much of a surprise if we didn't think I was perimenopausal. I'm 45 and by the time the baby is born, I will be 46! When we found out, I was 12 wks along. Tomorrow, it will be 17 wks.
So far, no problems, just alot of aches and pains. I have 23 yr old twin girls and this pregnancy is way different! I've had the NT scan, NIPT, and numerous blood tests. All came out normal. We are so thankful!
I have many mental and emotional issues that I didn't think I'd have w/ being pregnant at this age, like body image, telling people, and fear of people's reaction. There's just so much to think about! I'd welcome any pearls of wisdom from you! I wish everybody out there, congrats and good health!!

My good friend is just a year younger than you and her pregnancy was a surprise as well. She has had some good days and harder days. Fortunately, people have been really excited for her and supportive.
I hope your people are just as kind. And if they don't like it, they can stuff it. You are a grown woman and are more than equipped to handle this.
What did your daughters say?
I say own it and be proud of being an experienced mama. Three of my grandparents were born to 45-year-old women (back in the 1910s), so you are in good company. The media makes it seem like some odd thing, but lots of mature women have babies!

I love stories like this and I agree who cares what other people think!

When people respond as though they've left their filter in the car, I call them on it. When people pry or ask inappropriate questions I ask them, "Why do you ask?" and just smile instead of answering.
For whatever reason, people seem to think it's okay to overstep the boundary when it comes to someone being pregnant. I don't indulge anyone with information that I wouldn't ask others myself.
I think someone mentioned it already, stand tall, be proud and don't be embarrassed. This is a gift! I am very happy for you!
If you ever feel you need a boost this is the place to get it! What a great group of ladies we have here!
