My son had trouble with his liver, kidneys and heart. He died because the doctors couldn't fix all three, his organs were working against each other. One or two might have been fixable, but with three it was too much to fix.
I am on the email list for news about the children's hospital that helped my son. Today they sent an email talking about their national ranking in the most recent US News & World report. #3 in the country for Gastroenterology (liver), #2 in the country for Nephrology (kidney disorders) and #9 for Cardiology. These are really good rankings.
This does not make me feel better. If they're so great, why the heck couldn't they figure out how to help my son? I feel like the logical feeling would be to be relieved that great doctors did everything they could. He had the best people on his team, giving him the best chance. But I just feel mad. Why should they get to brag about how great they are when they couldn't help my Lincoln?? How is it possible that with everything they can do for other kids, there was nothing they could do? It seems unreal.
Re: Hospital rankings
I get it, I saw those rankings and had similar thoughts. My son was at Texas Children's Hospital (#2) and still couldn't be saved.
