Stupid question about baby jet lag

I'm sure I'm overthinking this, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips/experience with how to deal with jet lag in babies? We're traveling from Atlanta to LA next week and I'm starting to wonder how to handle bedtime. Should I put her down at her normal home time? Ignore the difference and put her down at local time? Start pushing bedtime later here so it's easier when we get there? Calm the fuck down about it and enjoy vacation? The problem is, if I followed her queues, we'd be up all night, the kid loves to play and can't stop/won't stop for anything.

If anyone also has any tips for a 5 hour flight, I'm open to suggestions too, she does have her own seat and will be in her carseat. The best price/time we could get for a flight is (of course) not during naptime or bedtime, but early/mid morning.

Re: Stupid question about baby jet lag

  • We did TX to CA for a week and we found it just easier to leave him on his home time schedule bc that way we weren't dealing with sleep issues when we got back. Also, his home schedule was about 10 p.m. at that time, so 8 p.m. wasn't really too difficult to deal with.

  • Thanks for the tips! I did get her her own carry on suitcase and plan on packing it full of snacks. I also did get her a few new small, quiet toys, like the water pen coloring book, which I actually can't wait to play with myself.
The target dollar spot is a great idea, of course that means I'm in for spending way more than that on all the other stuff I didn't know I needed until I get in there. Damn, wonderful, Target!
