Dr. Brown soft spout sippy cup

I received one of these and cannot get anything to come out. I looked online and have it assembled correctly. I even called the dr. Browns number and I'm still having trouble. The only way I can get anything to come out is to blow air into the spout and then I get a little water. But that's not right. Any other suggestions bc I've tried to suck it out and I'm getting nothing.

    I have the exact same problem.  I took out the little disc inside and then it flows, however it also flows a bit too well and makes a big mess...

    Yes I noticed that and I know that's supposed to be there to prevent the spilling.

    I guess it works too well... it's prevents spilling and it also prevents drinking!
