We have mostly straw sippies. She has one that isn't but prefers the straw. We are working on open cups but it's still very messy.
We have a potty seat for on top of a regular potty. Not a little one on the ground. She goes pee almost every night before a bath. She doesn't tell me about wet diapers but will with poopy ones. I think I'm going to try potty training in about a month after a vacation.
We use a combination of cups. He will drink out of anything we let him, but has a tendency to dump regular cups all over himself.
He sometimes tells us when he is going poop, so we rush him to his potty seat on the big potty, but we usually don't get there soon enough. I'm in no rush to potty train.
We use a lot of straw cups (love take and toss cups) and we do have a few trainer cups, he likes the straw cups better but will try to use the trainer cups. We also have an arm and hammer potty, still in the box, we aren't ready to use it yet
I picked up a Nuby trainer last weekend weekend it said for 18 mos+
He loves playing with his superman cup. I also got a short think 4 ounce, cup since mom fail he secretly picked up same size cup i was drinking a little soda out of it at Ikea when i was not looking for a sec and did not spill anything. I thought OMG on to cups

DD has been using a regular cup for several months now. She trainer herself using the small bathroom cups. She wanted to drink from a cup after brushing her teeth like her sisters.
We have several potties. She has used it a handful of times. She tells us if she poops and wants to be changed right away. However, she is still not really using the potty.
We are using sippy cups for the most part but she does get a bottle with warm milk when she wakes in the morning and at bedtime. I got her a potty a couple weeks ago, she had been showing signs that she was ready..like she would say "eww" when she pooped in her diaper, but it hasn't really progressed from that. She will sit on the potty and I let her run around without a diaper on but she has yet to do the deed in the thing.
Re: straw or trainer cups and potty
We have a seat for her that goes on the toilet seat. She is poop trained, but not pee. She is content to be in a pee diaper all day if I'd let her.

I did get her a potty and she was doing pretty great with it but then she decided she was over it and would rather stand by the stairs and poop.

Have a little potty and a seat for the big potty but she's not ready yet. She will sit on the potty but not long enough for the magic to happen.
