Bloody show after exam?

I went to the hospital Sunday night (6/8) with contractions and I was dilated one centimeter. They kept me overnight and examined me again in the morning and I was almost 2 cm. After a few more hours the contractions died down and they sent me saying that they weren't sure that I may be in pre labor. It's been over 24 hours since I was examined. During the time I was at the hospital and there was a brown spot on the bed, she told me it was just from them checking me (I have never had any type of discharge after an exam and I had one a week prior while being dilated). Today I noticed brown stuff on the toilet paper when I wiped. I figured it was just from the examination. I went to bathroom again and more came out. Then I went a little later and a whole string of brown stuff came out. I had to go again to wipe and A TON came out onto my toilet paper and in the toilet. I had to continue to wipe to actually get it all out (so sorry for all the nastiness). I was having menstrual like cramps before this and light contractions. I was just wondering if it was because of the exam or if was actually the bloody show. I lost my mucus plug 2 weeks ago.

It can regenerate itself also and you can lose it more than once or parts of it.
It was probably the plug out for good if you are at 2cm and were having contractions however it can happen weeks before. The plug is the same thing as the bloody show.
