Re: Clogged Tear Ducts

  • LO food the first week we were home. Breast milk and massaging the duct cleared it up once and for all. I'm sorry you're still dealing with it!

  • My LO does. Both eyes were really bad the first few weeks and now the left eye is clear and his right eye still get a little bit goopy. I put breast milk in it all the time. I hope it gets better soon but i think only time will help
  • DS2 doesn't have it anymore, but DS1 had them for awhile. We just massaged with a warm washcloth on the inner part of his eye a few times a day.
  • Yes, but it's not nearly as bad as it was at the beginning. She is 9 weeks today, at her appt yesterday, the Ped said they are looking much better and to keep massaging.

  • Mild case in the left eye. He used to have it pretty badly in both but massage and breastmilk helped a lot. It was actually gone from both for about two weeks but recently came back in the left eye.

  • Yes! He's almost 8 weeks. It's gotten worse this week, but he's also congested so I'm thinking there's more going on. We do massage/warm compress/breast milk too.

  • Yes! And I have been terrible with the warm compress because she decided a few weeks ago that she doesn't like it. She's 9 wks today.

  • Yes and it kept getting worse after she reached four weeks, but her pediatrician brushed it off. We did all the home remedies for it- breast milk at every change, warm cloth and massage whenever she ate, and it was only effective for an hour or two and then it was goop central all over again. She was prescribed erythromycen at the two month appointment and its almost clear after 5 days of using it!

Yes he had it I just kept massaging it and it got better within a few hours you massage the inner part of the eye by putting pressure from there all the way down his nose and cheek. Also if he starts getting a little big of an infection I put like 2drops of breast milk every time I nursed him and it got better in a couple of days If it keeps getting worse then talk yo your doctor hrs might need a little surgery to open them and antibiotics if the infection gets really bad

  • Yes my son has this and its still happenig.
He had it when he was around 2 weeks and it went away for a week or two came back worse and now we are still struggling with the blocked tear ducts. I think I'll try the breastmilk thing.

  • As pp have said, warm compress, massage and breast milk.

And not that I think this needs to happen FWIW, I had to have surgery on a clogged tear duct when I was 3 or 4 and I think I turned out ok!
