Babies: 3 - 6 Months

New baffling(frustrating) behavior?.

So literally every single night for the last week my lo who is almost 5 mos old will go to sleep like Normal ans usually nurse. Then if I'm lucky 15 min later he is crying and does it for up to an hour. Nursing , paci, burping, bouncing nothing works. Finally I cave and give a bottle and he's ok for a little while. And when he used to wake in night he would nurse and go right back to sleep but now it's a battle every time. I have tried to put him to bed earlier bc I know he's getting over tired but seriously this is draining! Esp with a 23 month old also. Any ideas?!

  • Do you swaddle him? When my son gets out of sorts a swaddle is magic.

  • I so feel your pain! Nothing but live to my LO but this sleep regression got the best of me today, it's been over a week since she's slept without a stir until her 6 hour feed, now it's a very angry mad cry as soon as I get her down... Praying for her to get better soon!

Is he grabbing at his ears at all? Hard to get down for naps too? My LO did the above when he had a double ear infection. Only symptoms were crankiness during the day and wouldn't go down for naps. He'd also wake screaming about 45 minutes into bedtime and then once or twice in the middle of the night and really didn't want to go back to sleep. Laying down hurt his ears. So you might try a visit to the pedi to check his ears and everything else, especially if LO is fussier than normal during the day too. Otherwise you'll just have to wait it out.

By 5 months its likely the baby is rolling back to front/front to back, and its no longer safe to swaddle.
