AW: Movin on up!

So I went for my follow-up ultrasound to check on the partial placenta previa diagnosed during my a/s and my placenta has already moved off my cervix.  It's still low lying, but I'm feeling good that if it moved 2 cm in 3 weeks it can move another 2 in the next 17 weeks.

I'm feeling very relieved because 1) the doctor approved our planned trip to Vancouver in 10 days so long as I take it easy and 2) I don't need to stress about going back to the US at 30 weeks for the birth (currently living in Ukraine, where I wouldn't want to do a high risk delivery).  The doctor did keep me on pelvic rest and no exercise til my placenta lifts another 2 cm. Ladies with low lying placentas, did you doctors place you on any similar restrictions?

  • Great news!  I have a LLP too and my doc has me on pelvic rest but didn't mention anything about exercise (to be fair, I never really exercise except the occasional dog walk...)

I don't know the measurements but I was put on pelvic rest until my follow up u/s in three weeks.

  • I was on pelvic rest until 28 weeks last time. When I delivered it was still low-lying but j had an uncomplicated vaginal birth.
  • 2cm in 3 weeks is awesome news! I don't have any restrictions but mines not super low (1cm from cervix right now). Enjoy your trip!

  • So happy your placenta got the memo that it needed to move!!  I can't imagine what a relief that is not having to worry about leaving your home for delivery.
  • YAY for good news. I too have a low lying placenta but wasn't given any restrictions at all! Hope they didn't forget to tell me!  :-/ I go back June 20th for a follow up u/s. Hopefully I'll have good news as well.

  • Great news!  I had a low lying placenta noted at 16 weeks and it had resolved itself by the 20 week A/S.  The only restrictions at that point were pelvic rest and not lifting more than 20 lbs.  He didn't say anything about exercise but as most of my exercise is low impact anyways (walking, swimming, etc), I didn't bother to ask.

After the 20 week A/S those restrictions were lifted. And I will admit it, we broke the pelvic rest rule a few times.

    Married 10/06

Baby Girl "C" arrived on 10/07/14 (39 weeks, 6 days)

  • Yay for a fast moving placenta! I just found out that mine is low lying as well. I wasn't told my measurements but they had the nurse call and tell me yesterday (I'm kinda pissed about that). She said don't lift anything over 30 lbs and I had to specifically ask her about sex. I first asked about pelvic rest and she only repeated the lifting restrictions so I had to say what about SEX? Bc I guess the OB nurse doesn't know that pelvic rest = sex!?! I'm debating on if I should call and ask to speak to an actual doctor.
  • That is such great news! Really hoping that I get the same news in 6 weeks when I go in for a follow up ultrasound.

My doctor said exercise is fine and didn't tell me to take it easy. Just no sex until the previa has cleared. Fingers crossed that it does!

  • I was also told I have a low-lying placenta at my A/S last week. I'm hoping mine moves up quickly like yours, because I was put on pelvic rest until it does!
  • Awesome news! Hope it continues to be positive!

  • I've had complete placenta previa since 16 weeks, with no change at my A/S which was at 20 weeks. I have a f/u scan at 32 weeks to see if a c-section is needed.

My restrictions are, very light workouts (aka walking) and pelvic rest (no sex, no orgasm), and no lifting (didn't give a weight limit, just no lifting anything heavy).

    Sucks :(

    Great news!!!

I have a low lying placenta as well, and my restrictions are to not lift anything more than a gallon of milk (this is really hard to follow), no exercise, no volleyball (I'm on a league so I specially asked if I could continue playing or not), and no sex. We have our repeat ultrasound tomorrow and they're hopeful it will be out of the way. It sounds like they'll lift my restrictions if it is!

  • Those are great news! Have fun on your trip!

My dr didn't put me on any restrictions when we noticed the placenta previa at 21 weeks and won't be checking it again until 29 weeks.
