Pregnant after 35

When can I expect some kicks and flutters?

In my first pregnancy it seemed to take forever before I felt the baby.  Once I did, it seemed to initiate a bond between me and my little guy.
Yesterday I had a very similar sensation to the flutters I first felt with my son.   I am only 14 weeks along so perhaps it is just wishful thinking.
I have heard you feel movement sooner with your next pregnancy.  Could anyone attest to this?   If so, when did you begin feeling your baby's movement?

  • I am a FTM, so I don't have any first-hand experience with a subsequent pregnancy, but I have definitely heard from other ladies that movement starts earlier with a second.

I remember with my first pregnancy not really feeling anything I could notice until after my anatomy scan. I recall thinking it was odd to see him moving so much at that scan but not feel it - it was 22 weeks or so before I noticed it.  I'm almost 19 weeks with this one and feel flutters/bubbles regularly and have since about 16 weeks. Yesterday I could have sworn I felt something from the outside but when I looked for a while - nada.  So yes - I think there is something to feeling it earlier. It's subtle, so unless you've felt it before I can see how you wouldn't notice what it is.

  • I thought I would feel DD #2 sooner but I didn't.  I felt my 1st at around 16 weeks but my 2nd the placenta was in the front and absorbing her movements.  I didn't feel her until 22 weeks.  I have just started to feel this little one move around in there.  At my NT scan the tech said placenta was in the front again. I'm with you, I love feeling them moving around in there and letting me know that for the next few weeks I'm not alone!

  • Well, now I am wondering if maybe I really DID feel her (I am convinced I am having a girl).  I'll have to pay closer attention.  Life with my nearly 3 year old doesn't allow much quiet time  ;)

By the way @Jilliansmoma your children are so sweet!
