Monday Bitchfest

Let's hear it.  I'll start.

Baby is constipated today, and decided at 5am that the only comfortable position was to sleep on his stomach on my tempurpedic bed.  So I've been awake since 5 watching him sleep.  It's also apparently a cluster feeding day.

I ordered copies of birth certificates for all 3 kids, and death certificates for my daughter.  When the envelope arrived, it had clearly been opened and one of my daughter's death certificates had been stolen.  I called the department of vital records and they confirmed that they sent the correct number, so it definitely was taken.  Now I have to figure out if I need to protect her identity from some sort of fraud.  On the plus side, DVR is sending out another copy of the certificate to me free of charge, even though it wasn't their fault it was stolen.

Anti-bitch - In addition to the customer service above, I had 2 other positive customer service experiences this week: (1) I ordered my birth announcements through VistaPrint and a few of them had been printed incorrectly (4 of 50).  I emailed their customer service office and within 10 minutes, they had responded, re-printed my entire order, and shipped it express free of charge.  (2) After 3 years of daily use, the LED screens on my AngelCare monitors have started to fail.  I emailed their customer service line to see if there was a way to fix them, and they're sending me 2 new parent units.

Re: Monday Bitchfest

  • @gertiebarden that is awful. Some people ...

My bitch. I was so waiting for this thread!

My mom calls me at 8 am - oh we will be there in 6 hours to visit. Like WTF. I have no food in this house, or is it very clean, and you drive 6 hours one way to come for 1 night. Its incredibly inconvenient when you just show up. I understand you do that to your friends, but when your daughter says PLEASE don't do it - don't do it. I have zero spontaneity. Buying us pizza doesn't quite make up for it, but its a start. Sigh.

@anniemore My son was a loud sleeper and it kept me up all the time.  I had intended to co-sleep with him in the room for a longer time, but ended up putting him in his own room at 3 months for both our sakes.  We both ended up sleeping much better (though DS1 was still a terrible sleeper).

  • Family members left yesterday morning and spoiled the crap out of my 3 yr old DS, now I have to get him back into life without them around, he's not listening, whines like a crazy kid, consciously pushing my buttons in every which way, he thinks that he always gets a toy when we go to stores. My almost 3 week old will be in the car seat it sounds like when we go shopping with my 3 year old being worn in a carrier so he can't escape and try to pull things off shelves.

I love family and the help they give, but some of the habits drive me nuts
  • My bitch, LO has been awake since 3am, screaming on and off. It's now 630am and he is continuing to fight sleep. Around 5am I gave up with trying to get him to sleep in his crib so I went down stairs to watch tv and put him in his swing. He wasn't a fan of that. So I held him for a bit, he slept for 10mins. Woke up screaming again. I changed him, fed him and then he was falling asleep on me so I put him back in the swing so I can try to get some sleep. He's been half asleep cooing. I'm just waiting for the screaming to start up again.

4 hours of sleep every night is gonna kill me!!!
  • DS came down with coxsackie last Thursday evening, and the pedi told me not to have any contact with him or allow DD near him till 24 hours after his fever broke. So he's been at my parents' house for 5 days and I can only talk to him via Skype. He's been in so much pain and all I want to do is hold him. It's awful, especially while I'm already dealing with postpartum emotions.

I also have at least one plugged duct in each breast. Our cold/heat wrap was in the freezer from when I used it to ease my carpal tunnel pain, and now that I've microwaved it, it's emitting the most disgusting stale food smells. Gag.
