DS #1 is Emmett Martin last name. Which do you like better / think sounds good with ds1's name?

Re: Clicky poll ladies!!!! (Boy names)

  • I like Jack Anthony. Classic names. I will also admit that I am overly neurotic about baby names and have lots of criteria that I follow when evaluating name choices. I'm an asshole. I know this is unpopular, but I don't like it when children or families have alliterative names. (No Mikey, McKayla, Mackenzie for me.) So I like that Jack Anthony is different from DS1's name and is classic and strong.

You make gorgeous babies, though so his name won't matter. :)

  • I posted this poll over on my Oct 14 BMB too and Jack seems to be the more popular choice. DH doesn't want to name him Jackson and have Jack as nn (which I don't either, I love the name Jackson but it's way too popular right now). I think Jack is a cute boys name an like TARHEEL stated above, a strong name for when he's older.

I like Jack Anthony a lot. But why not Jack Martin? I don't like Elliott as a sibling name with Emmett, it's a little too matchy matchy for my taste.
Anthony is DH's middle name, I thought it'd be cool if the boys both got a part of DH's name included in theirs.

  • Emmett and Elliott are too similar IMO, and then to both have the same MN is way too much alike. I love the idea of both boys having a part of your DH's name. Emmett Martin and Jack Anthony is a great sibset- not matchy, but they still sound good together and have meaning.

  • I concur with Elliot and Emmett being too matchy. We have a Jackson that we call Jackson or Jax. We "don't allow" people to call him Jack if that makes sense, because like DC said, if we wanted him called that we would have named him just Jack (is anyone else now thinking of Will & Grace?) Just by calling him Jackson or Jax has pretty much set the tone in place that those are the names we're using.

We have a similar problem. If we have a second boy I like Jameson. But Jackson and Jameson are too cutesy similar for us.

Here is a funny story. My co-teacher has two older brothers. One of them is named Johnathan. He came home the first day of K and told his parents he wanted to be called Jake for some reason. So they did. He's 30 years old, and to this day he's called Jake. Some people don't even know his real first name.

  • I'm not opposed to nns, but both my kids have names that don't really have nns. Ceilidh is just Ceilidh (or baby girl, C Bear, etc) but we don't have a short for Ceilidh. In not fond of Kay, though occasionally she gets called kaykay. Same with Elliott. I love the name Eli, but DH said no. So we don't call him anything but Elliott (c occasionally calls him Ellie though).

I'm not sure what will happen with Amelia. We both love Amelia, but know too many Amy's and aren't fond of it. I think if she were to get a short name, we'd go with Mia.

Neither of which answers your question, lol! I love Elliott, but I'm partial. And Elliott and Emmett might be too close as they get older. My parents accidentally ended up with Tammy, Danny, Annie and we were always called by the wrong name. Especially since we all wanted to be called by our real names Tamara, Daniel, Annika completely not similar. But I also love Jack. :)
