Monitor advice

We are starting to transition LO to the crib tonight (ack!).  He's just shy of 4mo.  We have an audio only monitor that we've been using at naptime and I haven't been satisfied (its some Avent one...good amazon reviews).  We use white noise and the monitor is either constantly on, picking up the white noise, or it cuts on and off constantly for the noise machine.  Not the baby.  We've messed around with white noise and monitor placement in the room as well as the sensitivity of the monitor.  If we adjust the sensitivity low enough, it works with the noise machine, but then it fails to pick up the baby crying.  With him moving to another room, I need to feel like I can trust the monitor.  Any advice on what works for you? Any suggestions on a monitor, we are willing to try a new one!

    I have the sony baby call one - but we don't use a white noise machine so I'm not sure whether it will help the issues you're having.

    We use a Motorola one. Love it. We've used it from the beginning as a walkie talkie, but it's great at letting us only hear LO.

    We have a Motorola one too. DD has white noise on and we can see and hear her fine , though her squeals are LOUD. We are also starting the transition this week at 15 weeks, too! Lots of luck and (Hopefully!) sleep!

    A second Summer Infant video user here. I've had it since dd was born over 3 years ago & we just added the additional camera. We've always used a fan outside dd's door for the white noise and never had an issue hearing her.

    Team Motorola here, too :)  We have a camera in each kid's room and it scans back and forth.  We use pretty loud white noise in their rooms so that they don't wake each other up, and have no problem hearing them.  It's great to hear them and the look at the video to see if they're really awake.

    summer infant video monitor for us.  We always have the white noise machine on it it does not interfere with hearing her.  Also has volume control to adjust how loud you want it to be, and you can adjust the angle of the camera from the monitor.

    Oh, and for when they are older, it tracks movements.  So if they somehow get out of their crib, it will follow their movement.

    Also is like a walkie talkie, you can talk through the monitor into their room.

    YEMV, but we had the sony baby call ones and they were TERRIBLE.  The always beeped, or made popping/crackling noises.  Two of our friends also had the same problem.  Clearly we have something that is interfering, but they seem really susceptible to it.  We finally gave up and replaced them with some v-tech ones (still just audio) that are nice and perfectly quiet.  :-)
