Normal Pregnancy pain or something wrong?

For the past 3 days or so, I've been having a lot of uncomfortable pressure/pain at the top of my big belly, right under my breasts. It keepse up at night and its off and on throughout the day. I'm 29 weeks pregnant and will be having a scheduled c-section in August at 39 weeks. I've been really uncomfortable with the typical pregnancy pains and symptoms, but I've never heard of it being a symptom to have pressure and pain at the top of your belly. Has anyone else had this or knows if its normal? I've done some research and it's not round ligament pain or its not the baby kicking/moving. Holding my belly up from the bottom seems to help a little.....when I stand or walk....or sleeping with a pillow between my knees and one under my tummy at night or naptime helps as well but its never fully relieved by those things. Any ideas or advice would be appreciated! TYIA!

Upper/ upper-right quadrant pain was explained to me as a *possible* symptom of preeclampsia, however it could also be the general ailments of pregnancy (lots of things getting squashed in there!).  Call you doctor and discuss your symptoms; s/he's the only one who knows your history and if this is something worth exploring further.  Good luck!

  • Thanks for your advice. I just wanted to see I'd anyone else has experienced this. When I went in last Wednesday....June 4th....my blood pressure was really low. 85 over 49! So idk if it could be causing the pain or vice versa!
  • My ob said my pain that sounds similar to yours was most likely rib expansion pain. She said it happens around week 30.

I just hit week 32 and it is gone now. :)
  • As you stated in your posts about the dad baby shower....we are all too immature to answer your question. You should ask a doctor since we aren't medical professionals.

Exactly. Adults that don't call the members on these boards immature and stupid because they don't agree with a "dadchelor" or whatever the hell that thread is called. You lost the maturity by making it personal and calling names and telling people to grow up instead of just leaving your stance on the subject.

  • Had a similar pain, sharp pains under my right breast, my OB just said it was probably my ribs expanding for the baby.  However, he said if you have a fever or anything could also be gallbladder, which can be serious.

    First, call your doctor.

Secondly, I had similar pain, talked to my doctor and figured out it was a gas bubble.
