October 2014 Moms

Carrying low this time. Second pregnancy is SOO different.

LO is due October 3rd and we are having another baby girl! From the beginning we thought it was a boy because this pregnancy has been sooo different than my first so we were very surprised to find out that we were having another girl! But very happy :) Anyway, with my last baby girl she was up in my ribs the entire time and gave me terrible rib pain for the last 4 months of my pregnancy. This time around, I am almost 6 months along and she already feels sooo low! I feel the same way I felt in the last month I was pregnant last time. Honestly, sometimes if I stand for long periods of time I feel like she is going to fall right now. Anyone else have a similar experience??

  • I am a FTM so I have nothing to compare to but I feel like this baby loves hanging out on my bladder

This. U/S tech said he was wedged down into my cervix.

  • This and my last pregnancy are pretty similar in terms of baby position. I'm carrying low, get lots if kicks in my bladder/cervix, and occasionally have that pressure feeling super low.

It could just be the timing. Your uterus might not have lifted up very far yet. We're only half way there. ;) Was your daughter in your ribs by 20 weeks?

My boy's wedged into mine too. It can get a bit uncomfortable. But since this is my first I really don't know if I'd be more comfortable if he was higher up, or just uncomfortable in a different spot.
  • I am not sure at 20 weeks but I know for sure by 24 because I was in New York and had to stop every 5 min because of the pain. But I think that pain was worse than carrying low. Carrying low is just very uncomfortable, the ribs were PAINFUL. I have my anatomy ultrasound this week so im sure everything will check out just fine :)
  • I'm the same. My first was all up in my ribs and I could definitely feel her there by now. This one is so low, even my belly looks different. I feel all his movement down in my pelvis and around where my pants sit. I do get some kicks higher up but they're rare.

  • Until this week, I never really understood the comparisons that people make about how they carried.  but now I get it.  I was JUST thinking this morning that this baby is so much lower than DD was, even at this point.  I never had the issue with having to pee all the time until the last 4 weeks or so with DD, but now I already have that problem, and have for a while.  I can never remember getting kicked in the bladder so much with DD, either - she was always way up in my ribs, too.

  • I'm carrying really low but I also don't have any comparison as a FTM. I have to pee all the freakin time.

Ditto. Everyone acts surprised that I'm in the bathroom so much this early.

Definitely agree here. Little girl is still sitting breeched too and kicks me really low. Her kicks are getting strong so it is a little uncomfortable.

Yeah my pregnant co-worker was looking at me like a weirdo because I have to pee all the time and she's due in July.

  • First thing the tech said to me at my a/s was that baby likes to hang out with his head on my bladder.  Explains why I pee all the time!

  • I definitely feel like I am carrying lower this time. My Dr. even mentioned to me that second time moms often complain that it feels like the baby is going to fall out. (If only it were that easy!). It sounds like it is pretty common.
  • Yes! This baby is crazy low. My experience is very similar to yours except I've got boys!

I read this quick, and it looked like you were saying it sounds like it's pretty common for babies to fall out.  LOL!

  • I carried DD low, now this baby is already super low AND sitting breech.. There have already been nights that I need to sit with something under my belly for support, it just hurts. My OB says things are just already stretched out since my last pg was the same way.

DD was on my cervix so long that she had a lump on her head for ~3 weeks!

  • Im the exact same way. DD1 was very high and this DD is very low. I feel her kicks and movement about as low as possible!
  • Same exact situation here! I am pregnant with a girl again (totally thought boy). This pregnancy has been completely different!!! I am carrying this baby much lower as well. All movement is super low compared to last time. I feel like every time I stand or walk I have to go to the bathroom!

  • I'm a FTM, so I can't compare.. the way my belly looks, it looks like I'm carrying high; someone even said that to me, but all the movement I feel is in my pelvis.  Most kicks are below my underwear line.  I told my sister the other day that I could feel the baby kick and she put her hand by my belly button where it looks like the baby would be and I said, no, feel it down here and she said, "I don't want people to think I'm trying to grab your crotch!"  I thought maybe it was strange, but it sounds like it's normal to have kicks that low.

That's where all mine have been so far. Maybe a few just above my underwear line, but not much. And he was head down at my AS.
  • I have carried all of my babies low, I am constantly running to the bathroom
Yep. This is my second baby and both have felt insanely low. Whenever my MIL touches my stomach I always have to move her hand way down. Baby ain't up there!

  • I guess mine his high up then. I'm a FTM , but all my kicks are at the top. Right in line with the tip of my uterus. But my child has been head down since forever, so yeah..

And my pee schedule is normal...for now.
  • A maternity belt can really help this too. I carry really low also. I get BH really easy because anytime I walk more than 5 mins I think my pelvis irritates him :(
  • Yep, same exact experience! Very uncomfortable.

I seem to carry low, but my big surprise was how differently I'm gaining weight with this one.  I have love handles for days now and was totally not expecting that.

Kiddo was hanging out down near my cervix during the a/s, which explains all of the "shocks" I got the weeks previously. But all my guts are stacked up high, so my bump looks higher than it actually is.

Mines that way too, @starla487‌. My guts are high, but baby now has been a boulder on my cervix for the last month.
