Gtky: most expensive wedding registry item

We had a $350 wine fridge from Williams Sonoma. Dh's CEO got it for us but we returned it. It wouldn't fit anywhere. We got a gift card and paid for lots of other wedding gifts for a while :).

We also had a really pretty lladro figurine (groom carrying a bride) that was about $400 but no one got it (I don't blame them... Thought it might be a nice heirloom).

Ftr the rest of our stuff ranged from $5-$150.

And... Go!

Eta: holy crap, I went to search for the lladro figurine and it went up to $690!!!! I should have bought lladro stock ;)

Re: Gtky: most expensive wedding registry item

  • I think $100 was my highest but I did not get one gift we got all cash. It was helpful but I was slightly disappointed, filling out registry took lots of time.

  • Dyson Animal... I think it was $350 or something. No one got it but we bought it with our completion discount and gift cards we got. :)

  • We didn't have a registry... :-S

Not sure if it's tacky but we expected money anyways and there was nothing we really needed. We already had all the home appliances we needed and we use things til its completely wore out/broken. Although with the money I got a new laptop...that broke within 6 months X(

  •  I think it was a microwave...probably around $100.  I made sure nothing was registered for that was over $100 as I knew no one in our families would be able to buy such things.  And we were already living together for 3 years...we didnt need much.
  • I think our most expensive item was a dual temperature wine fridge for about $300. Most of the items ranged from $50 to $250. We registered at Bed Bath and Beyond and Crate and Barrel.

  • We didn't have a registry, but DH's rich grandpa gave us so much money that I can't even write it down here for fear :P crazy thing, we haven't touched it at all! Let's just say we could have 2 weddings with that amount (the size of our wedding, not crazy expensive ones of course).

The Kitchenaid Mixer. DHs cousin got it for us. My folks also gave us a $500 gift card to our honeymoon resort, but that wasn't on any registry (they also paid for the wedding). ILs didn't give us a gift (they did pay for the rehearsal dinner).

  • My parents got us most of our cutco knife set we registered for ~$2k. Dhs friend got the 12pc steak knives that fit in the block ~$400. I registered for the complete 32pc all clad set and ended up buying it myself with money we got.

  • Our keurig. It was around $200.

  • I honestly don't even remember. I don't think we registered for anything more than $100.
Our most expensive gift was from FIL - he gave us cash to help with the downpayment on our house.

I think our knife set was around $300. People got us most things off our registry for our shower and then have cash at the wedding. We had many very generous guests.

Our most expensive item was our Calphalon pots and pans set. I believe it was about $500. My IL's got it for us and I use them on a daily basis. FTR, I most certainly would've bought the set on our own. They're great quality.
Probably if we had registered for the set, this would have been ours too.  But I registered for the pieces separately.  The largest one item for us was our Kitchen Aid mixer.
  • I think the most expensive was a flat screen tv for 300-400. We weren't expecting anyone to get it but we got it with gift cards and our completion discount. The most expensive gift someone got us was our calphalon pan set, but I don't remember how much that was... My sister gave us her barely used kitchenaid too. The majority of stuff we registered for was probably 15-100.
  • Our Kitchen Aid stand mixer was #1. Our All Clad pots and pans were probably second, but since those don't come in a set that isn't one huge chunk of change. A lot of people bought us pieces from that.
  • A set of pots and pans for $500-ish. Before then I had been using a ceramic coated set from about 1973 I had gotten at the thrift store for $18 a decade before our wedding. They were purty.

Other than that, my crystal drink set is $50/glass. I still don't have the whole set. Single and double highball and white wine glasses only. I need to start investing in a glass a month or something before the pattern is discontinued.

There's just something that says 'grown up' (in my head) about a matching set of crystal.

  • I can't remember what we had on our registry but I am pretty certain that I didn't register for anything over $100, the whole idea of the registry just felt really weird to me!  DH had been married previously and we had everything we needed.  We got a lot of cash at our wedding which was great!

  • No registry either.  I requested not to even have a shower, but my sister and bridesmaids threw me a beautiful one anyway.  We mostly received gift cards, cash and nice home made items (photo albums, monogrammed wine glasses, etc.)

  • No shower, no registry
  • No shower or registry for us. We got married within 3 months of our engagement. We got lots of cash though
  • I feel guilty saying this but it was a big pots and pans set by Calphalon from W-S. It was like $900, and I honestly felt a lot of weirdness putting it on hit he registry, but I only did it because I wanted it there so we could get the completion discount. I never imagined someone would get it for us, it was long time family friend and my dad's business partner...him and his wife, and their adult kids all split it. Very generous.
  • Actual registry item was our kitchen aid mixer. DH's parents got us a Big green egg that was the most expensive gift we received.

Either our pots/pans or toaster oven.. I love my pans, and would probably have never bought them myself... One of my aunts kept insisting I needed to register for China so she could buy it, so glad we didn't, we have 3 sets from grandparents that we never use, no need for another :)
  • A set of pots and pans, a Miele vacuum cleaner, and a knife set... Close family members got all 3... They were very generous!
