Daycare Fundraising

Does anyone else's daycare do a lot of fundraising? I just feel like every time I turn around there is something new. I just got an email about selling discount cards.

We do tjs pizza, sell flowers and they hold events sometimes too! We don't always participate. We should but I just don't always get around to it

  • Ours does bake sales every few months and they have probably done three bigger fundraisers since we started at 12 weeks.  They have sold candles, frozen cookie dough/pastries, and done a walk-a-thon with the kids on the playground.

They often will tell us what they are trying to raise money for like once it was a laminator.  The other thing they do is ask for donations of items like gift cards and lotion for teacher appreciation events.

  • I haven't seen any fundraisers for daycare yet, they did have a sign up in the lobby asking for donations on school supplies and what they needed so I purchased a few boxes of crayons and donated them and we did do a teacher appreciation lunch were those who wanted to bring something in they could.

  • My understanding of the daycare industry is that its really expensive to provide high quality daycare.  And even with the insanely high tuition, most of it goes to hiring and retaining qualified staff.  I never feel any pressure to participate.

  • I don't have time to go to parent committee meetings but they said its for building projects. In the past month they have had a work day and a yard sale.

  • They do about one per quarter, usually with a focused goal, like a multi-seat stroller for the little ones or just general educational materials. The info. is always handed out as a packet in your child's cubby with no pressure to participate. They have also raised money for families at the center who are dealing with health crises. Just last month they held a clothing/canned food drive for Bosnia, where quite a few of the teachers are from. The center is small about 8 or less kids per room up to age 6.

They did a carwash for their "graduation" .  It was fun we mostly hung out and played in the water and washed all the parents cars.  Then "paid" for the carwash" . made a donation.  It was fun and the kids loved playing and spraying each other with water.
