Balance problems

Does having a baby create balance issues?! I've noticed lately that my balance is off, whether I'm holding DS or not. I'll just be standing, and shift my weight and I'll stumble, I'm sure people think I'm drunk.

Is this normal, or am I just so tired I can't even stand up?

Re: Balance problems

  • I vote tired.
This is my third. I never had the balance problem before.

I'm also having trouble finding the correct words to use every now and then.

  • I've definitely noticed balance problems. I also get these little flashes of vertigo, although they seem to be lessening. Doctor didn't seem concerned but also couldn't explain it.

  • If I were to guess... your balances shifts while pregnant because your weight is distributed differently. It has taken me a while to get my balance back now that my weight is shifting back so that may have something to do with it.

    This is not medical advice...

  • I don't know if it's normal, but my balance has been total off.  Just the slightest weight shift and I stumble.

  • So glad I'm not the only one!! It scares me sometimes because I'm holding LO and I just stumble with him in my arms! I usually have two hands on him if I'm walking around with him.

  • This makes me feel better! I have slight vertigo too at times
  • So glad I'm not alone! I'll get quick dizzy spells also sometimes. I knew pregnancy took a lot out of a woman's body but man, seems like EVERYTHING is different with my body.

Yes! This so much, dh and I were talking about it last night because he watched me totally almost tip over and I was telling him I do that all the time like in drunk. I'm glad I'm not the only one!!!
Just this morning I was holding LO, stood up from the rocking chair and had to sit back down (rather hard) or I would have fallen over.  Let's hope none of us have to walk a straight line if we're pulled over.  The cop will never believe we're not drunk!

  • I was in our rocker recliner and I was trying to sit still but I'm convinced it was rocking back and forth. I almost got motion sick!

  • I've had a few small dizzy spells lately too. I assumed it was just from being tired or congested but I guess it could be some PP thing.

  • Yeah, you're not alone. But I've never had great balance. The pedi said breastfeeding gives LO a hormone that relaxes their joints similar to what you get at the end of pregnancy. I wonder if you're (we're) still getting it (If you are BFing). Yay hormones.
