Re: Monday check in

  • Feeling good but I have a dentist appointment in a couple hours so ask me again later!

My best friend is a relatively new addition...We've know each other for about 2 years. I met her on my daughter's birth month board and we just clicked. I have a handful of friends from grade school and high school but they all disappeared when I went to college and now it is more like "someone I used to know."

I'm doing ok today, just a bit tired from doing so much (stupid house doesn't clean itself!) yesterday. I couldn't sleep past 5:00 on Saturday or Sunday, but of course today I had to hit the snooze button several times. Zzzz...

My dog seems to be doing much better, @FamousEa. He was practically bouncing off the walls this morning, and I felt bad that I hadn't gotten up earlier to take him on a walk. Maybe my husband will do that later. He (the dog, bo the husband) has a follow up vet appointment tomorrow to check his labs and his lung function.

I met my best friend at a crappy job 11 years ago. We carpooled since we both lived across the bay from the office, so we got to know each other pretty well on those drives. I think we get along so well since we're both kind of crabby and share a sarcastic sense of humor. We're always helping each other find the funny side to life's roadblocks.

  • How are you feeling today? Anything to rant or rave about or otherwise share? I am tired. I think I have the Monday's but it's rainy out so that doesn't help. I'm just really bored with my job lately. *snore*

Tell us about your best friend. How long have you known each other? How did you meet? What makes you click? My best friend is my SIL. She's been married to my brother for 11 years. It makes a difference having your best friend at all the family functions. She's one of those people who is really sweet and easy going. Although you'd have to be to be married to my brother ;-) What made us click was probably my niece and nephews. I'm crazy about them. I couldn't have planned my wedding without her and she's going to help me survive breast feeding. I can't say enough amazing things about her. We like to drink too much wine and tell each other how much we love the other one. Lol

  • How are you feeling today? Anything to rant or rave about or otherwise share? absolutely dreading flying to Paris tonight.  I have a fear of flying under normal circumstances, and now it's quadrupled.  I'm also having a difficult time getting comfortable at home, so not sure how I'll do it during a 7 hour flight.

Tell us about your best friend. How long have you known each other? How did you meet? What makes you click? I had a large falling out with my best friend from high school, and my current best friend is newish, and I would say that shared experiences made us click at first.

  • I feel pretty good this morning.  I slept way later than I wanted to, but I think I needed it.  This weekend was super active!  We went to an arts fest, the grocery store, baby store to order a glider, took a walk, and cleaned out some of the basement to make room for the stuff that needs to be stored from the office/nursery.  And I need to be active today and work on the basement again.  Phew...good thing nesting is finally kicking in!

My best friend (other than my DH) is a girl I have known from my neighborhood since like 1st grade.  We always rode the bus together and hung out all summer.  We are very different people, so it's kind of surprising we click so well, but we can tell each other anything and just really seem to understand each other.  She lives about an hour and 20 min away now, so I only mostly see her with our whole group of friends, but I love her!

Feeling pretty good this morning. Much better than yesterday. I never seemed to get my energy level up yesterday and fell asleep on DH in the early evening - he was all "in the mood" and I was all let's cuddle and sleep :). Ahh, well - personal time is personal time, right.

Not much to rant or rave about - starting to feel small movements of Lo, which is making me happy but wish I was feeling more, being 23 weeks.  Pretty typical Monday morning - so not much to report, which I guess is a good thing. No news is good news sometimes.

I have two best friends. The first is my DH - and not cause he is my DH, we knew each other over 20 years before we became romantically involved - so he was my best friend before he was anything else. It makes for a pretty special relationship. What makes us click - we are very different ironically enough, but we get each other and I guess that's what clicks - he can read me like a book and always has been and I'm the only one who can truly read what his facial expressions mean (re: he's in a terrible mood, but everyone else thinks he's fine).

My other best friend is my touch point - I met her in HS and she has been one of my closest friends ever since. The unfortunate thing is we live way too far away and see eachother maybe every other year. We want to change that but tough with life and family, etc... We text ever day and talk as often as we can. We click because we both see the world in the same way - both have similar views on family and society, etc.... We also click because we compliment each other's weaknesses and strengths and therefore are very good at supporting each other when life, DH's, work, etc....get us down.

  • @VCGolfNYC - I don't think I have ever heard anyone say they were dreading flying to Paris before!

For your sake, I hope the flight is smooth and you are able to sleep through most of it.

I know, it's terrible!  I also can't partake in some of my favorite cheese or wine while I'm there, so I'm looking forward to consuming copious amounts of pastries, macarons and bread&butter (the only place I eat butter!) while I am there.  Thankfully I am flying business so there's a chance I'll sleep, but unfortunately I'm not holding my breath!

  • @vcgolfnyc Please tell Paris "Bonjour, Tu me manques" for me! Safe travels.

No physical complaints. Baby has been moving up a storm. Hubz has felt him several times (and he lights up every time) and my belly jiggles all around when he kicks. I've been having noticeable Braxton Hicks all weekend. No pain associated at all, just feel the tightening of the muscle. That's BH, right?

This weekend I continued work on the dresser for the nursery. It's an old dresser that Hubz's XW "antiqued" but looked like crap. A little sanding then some paint, NBD, right? WRONG! I want to burn that thing. I'm never redoing furniture ever ever again.

My BFF is from 5th grade. I switched schools and she was the first to really open up and not make fun of the "new girl." We've been inseparable since.

  • @VCGolfNYC I am also surprised, since you always seem to tend to fall on the more analytical side of the discussions (not a bad thing!) but maybe you can feel better knowing that flying is way safer than driving! Esp when crossing the ocean (ha-ha) Enjoy Paris! I'm sure your flight will go great :-)

I am feeling great, except a little sleepy.  I went shopping on Saturday and got a couple baby girl outfits!  I just HAD to!  :)  I spent the weekend at my parents' and where they live the internet connection is pretty spotty so I didn't get to check in over the weekend.

Tell us about your best friend. How long have you known each other? How did you meet? What makes you click? I have a few best friends, but my #1 BFF I met when I was 14 years old.  Her and my cousin were good friends and we all went shopping together.  She called me the "skinny bitch" lol.  we were sort of friends for several years but back in 2005 we just kind of clicked.  And we have been eachother's rock ever since.  She is going to be little Nemo's Godmother.  :)

    @mrsbabe614

I know!!!!! It's a completely irrational fear and I totally appreciate that and sort of laugh at myself for it.  Whenever I have to fly I say good bye to my cats and DH like it's the last time I will ever see them.  It's pathetic!  /:)    My boss doesn't know I'm pregnant and he suggested I have a glass of wine immediately before boarding and once I board. I usually take a Xanax/Ativan + a glass of wine before flying, but can't do either this time for obvious reasons! ;)

  • How are you feeling today? Anything to rant or rave about or otherwise share?  Glad to be home after the quick trip to OH this weekend (and all of that driving to get there and back)!

Tell us about your best friend. How long have you known each other? How did you meet? What makes you click?  Aside from DH, my BF and I met in high school band.  She had recently moved to the area and we had both band and lunch together.  Most of the band geeks ate together at lunch, so she joined us.  While we don't see each other often (we now live in different states), when we do get together, it is as if only a day or two have passed.

  • Today: Great feeling so much better.
No Rants. But raves: I felt my son last night for the first time. It was an awesome feeling and looking forward to more "bubbles"

My BFF is DH. The relationship I have with him is so much different then any other relationship I have. We have known each other for 14 years and will be married for 10 of those years in Sept.
