Camping question

Has anyone camped with a 2.5 year old successfully? Either tent, RV or cabin. I would love to go camping but I'm wondering how the logistics of my kid sleeping would work. He's never been a big fan of sleeping with us, always sleeps by himself in his bed. Is he too young to try it?

Re: Camping question

  • Are you hiking in or car camping? We would just bring a huge dome tent and set up the pack n play. We did it quite a few times like that and then just waited until he was able to sleep on a cot bc the pnp in the tent sucked and nobody slept. I would have loved to have a pop up or rv.

  • I have tent camped with my kids a lot.  By 2 1/2 they were all successfully sleeping on an air mattress in the tent.  It was pretty easy honestly.
  • We would probably be car camping. He sleeps in a crib or pack and play as of now, but I think we may be getting closer to transitioning to a toddler bed. Maybe we will wait and try it once he can sleep on a cot or air mattress.

  • I would go! I would probably take an air mattress or even a pallet of blankets-  every time we have been camping P is so tired that  he would have slept on anything. Or if you're really worried about it just take the pnp, they aren't that difficult to set up. I think the first time we went camping (he was 18 months) I actually just took the mat from the pnp and he slept on that.

  • Yes.  DS2 loved it at that age.  Each kid has their own sleeping bag.
