3rd Trimester

UTI?

Hi all,

I've lately been having a sharp pain sensation in my abdomen when I pee right at the bottom of my bump. I only feel the pain when the amount of urine is so small, there is no burning sensation when I pee like what happens in UTIs and the pain isn't constant it's only while I'm going and the amount is so so small. I want to bring it up to my doctor this week but has this happened to you before?

I'm 35 Weeks pregnant today

Re: UTI?

  • I have exactly the same! I was just going to write this exact post. I'm afraid I don't have any answers but reading your post makes me hopeful it's just a pregnancy symptom and not a UTI.
I'm 36 weeks today and have had these symptoms for about 4 days now.

  • Call your doc and go in and leave a urine sample. It isn't worth waiting around wondering if it is a pregnancy symptom or if it is a uti when there is a simple test that gives you a definite answer at your doctors office. Waiting to long can lead to a kidney infection. I had a uti at 36 weeks and went straight to the doc and got meds and felt better within a day. Go to the doctor!
  • Go give a sample as PP said -- I'm in the midst of the second UTI in a row - and it hurts a lot to urinate, but I"m on the right med for it now after culturing my urine... the first time they just called in an RX (it was a Sunday), and it went away and then came back even worse. :-(

  • Go in and get checked uti can cause pain even with no burning . I'm currently am in the middle of another one and had no burning and little pain. I had a major amount of white blood cells in my urine get check asap and get meds.

  • It is very common during pregnancy to get a UTI or bladder infection without the typical symptoms. Definitely go get tested.

Having said that, starting around 36 weeks, I started feeling a lot of pressure and discomfort, and had to pee constantly. It was just the baby's position and eventually turned out to be part of early contractions. So, it could be a UTI but it may also be totally normal 3rd tri discomfort.

(Don't get too excited about the early contractions thing, by the way, I still ended up needing to be induced after my water broke)

  • Definitely get checked out my uti's were totally different during pregnancy then they are when not pregnant. They also caused me to have very bad contractions that where starting to change things.
  • I just wanted to say please go get checked out if you have a uti, i just got home from the hospital after having a uti and taking antibiotics its gotten worse and now possibly a infection in my kidney it caused contractions, i am currently at home with a new antibiotic but under watch for more pains.

  • UTIs are very serious in pregnancy and can lead to premature labor.  Get it checked out NOW.
