6 week growth spurt

So far is a doosy.....

Uncontrollable screaming even while he's eating. He acts hungry all the time and I am feeding on demand but he's crying even mid feeding. He hasn't slept more than a 30 minute stretch here or there today so I am hoping he passes out soon. Any advice from STM's? How long does this usually last?

Re: 6 week growth spurt

  • With DS1 it was a few days. I forget exactly how long but yeah, it sucked. I camped out on the couch with snacks only getting up to pee and get more snacks.

  • @pistolpackinmomma‌ did he cry like that? My little guy just went to sleep and he was sweating he was crying so hard. Not sure if it's colic or growth spurt. When do babies usually get colic if they are going to get it? Ftm here and I'm still learning.
  • No advise but I'm there with you. She will just randomly cry nothing calms her down. When she sleeps she's grunting, tossing and turning. The only thing that helps her sleep is if I hold her. She wakes up the moment I lay her by herself. Her appetite has increased also. She is eat 4 ounces at most feedings unless she's cluster feeding.

  • My LO has started doing this at bedtime. We're coming up to the 3 week growth spurt. The shushing and jiggling from Happiest Baby on the Block work to get her to settle down, though she still won't sleep during that time. Staying awake with her until 1-2 am sucks but it is easier when she's not screaming bloody murder.

  • my boy was starting to get really good at staying down when I put him down to sleep ... until last night. He would wake up the second my hands were free and grunt/whine/kick. Holding him is his only relief. I am sooooo tired right now

  • cowpoly959 My pedi said that if baby develops colic, it usually shows up around 4 weeks. I haven't really looked into yet, so I'm not sure if it varies.
