Just following up on the 'dadchelor' debate above. I've never heard of 'dadchelor' parties, but "head wettings" are very normal for my culture. Typically, whilst Mom is still in hospital, Dad and mates get together at the bar to celebrate the birth of the baby. It's different from the whole gift-giving type of scenario, and is very much an excuse to drink - get a quick one (or three) in before Mom and baby come home. Back-slapping, cigar smoking etc etc...is that not typically done in the US?
Re: Head Wettings...not the norm?
Not sure you mean't to post this but my first two thoughts:
"Does she mean bed wetting? Or maybe you can pee from your head? You can't do that....no...not possible. Maybe it's sweat."
"Why in the world would my husband need a drink if I'm giving birth? If anyone it should be me throwing back drinks...hm, that's selfish. He could have a sip."
