Baby Ouchie

So, E touched the grill kettle least night. I saw him teaching for it and just couldn't get up out of my chair fast enough. It was like one of those fraction of a second taps before he realized it was hot, and I didn't even think it left a mark last night. He cried and daddy gave him an ice cube to hold (I know, not ideal but we weren't near home and it's all we had). Well, this morning he has a blister from the burn. It's not huge, but it's on his palm, near the base of his fingers.

Other than not breaking the blister for as long as possible, what else should I do? Should I call his pedi in the morning? Because of where it is located, I'm not sure we can cover it when the blister does eventually break.

Re: Baby Ouchie

  • My DD burned her finger reaching under tho been when I wasn't watching. We tried to not let the blister pop, but when it did we put a band aid on for the rest f that day and then let it scab over at night without a band aid. We had to repeat that process a few times, but it did heal just fine.

We were doing a fish fry outside yesterday. I was so busy keeping dd away from it that my nephew (3). Snuck by and touch the "bubbles". He has a tiny burn on his index finger from touch the bubbles. Felt so bad for him

  • Thanks ladies. It was an accident, I feel bad but wasn't too upset because there really wasn't anything I could do to stop it! :). I did talk to the nurse at the clinic today and she said the same thing — keep the blister intact as long as possible, then clean as best as we can. :)

  • Poor little guy :(  Do you have an aloe vera plant? Not sure that it would be as effective now vs. immediately after, but just a thought.

E got the got muffler on H's 3 wheeler a couple of week ago. I didn't think he got it, he cried for a minute, but I thought I scared him with my screaming and kind of pushing him over trying to get to it before he did. I felt so bad! He had little blisters on two fingers the next day. They didn't seem to bother him and they have wales now.

    Edit: words
  • Well I talked with the nurse and she said, "I know you, just keep it clean as best you can. Bring him in if you see any infection." So, that's what we are doing. It's not affecting him using his hand on bit. He played all day like normal. The blister looks like it may have absorbed some of the water tonight, but it hasn't opened as far as we can tell.

  • Ugh.  I still have guilt over the time DD was this age and crawled over to the open oven before I could shut it.  I had placed her on the other side of the room but she was faster (and quieter) than I expected and just creeped up behind me.
