We may have had this in the past, but my memory is short.... Let's pretend you have "spare" time. What do you do with it? Any hobbies you'd like to try?
Is Netflix considered a hobby? I knit/crochet, read, and am starting to garden. I would like to start sewing again. Or quilting? I'd also like to start doing calligraphy. And weirdly, I have the urge to colour. Like when you're a little kid, but maybe something fancier than Crayolas and a My Little Pony colouring book. Is that a thing?
I just went to Pinterest and searched for "colouring pages for grownups" and found tons! Maybe I will do one. I can always hang it up in LO's room later.
ETA after a few more minutes on Pinterest, I also realized I'd like to make cards. I love stationary, and I love mailing things to friends, so it seems like a perfect match. Except I'd have to clean my office and I don't want to, it scares me
I play polo! I was that little girl who was always obsessed with horses, but I never grew out of it. I haven't played much in the last 5 years (babies), but I'm really hoping to get back into it this fall.
I also enjoy martial arts. I've done Krav Maga and some basic MMA. My kiddos are in Jiu Jitsu, and I'd like to try some of that too.
Other hobbies include sewing (mostly the kids' Halloween costumes every year) and motorcycles.
I like to draw, cook and read. We have a "mystery" section of the garden bin and I love picking random weird veggies and coming up with a dish Iron Chef style.
@Soap1 - I did Jiu Jitsu for years and LOVED it!!! I only quit because my back got royally screwed up. DH is a brown belt and teaches as well. You should definitely try it and report back with how much you love it
@utpony When I saw the notification that "utpony" had mentioned me, I thought surely it would be about the polo playing. Because pony. But glad to hear that Jiu Jitsu is fun!
I suck at hobbies. I love creating things (Pottery, drawing, painting, sewing, cooking, etc), but I hardly ever finish things, and if I do, they are usually not up to my standards for myself, and therefore I hate them.
The only exception to this is food. I can make some pretty amazing food.
I have a pottery wheel, but I haven't thrown in forever. I like to paint and draw, but I haven't done either in forever. I love to read, but I get *too* into books...not a good trait with LO.
So I guess my current hobbies are The Bump, and trying to keep the giant weeds from overtaking my garden & flower beds.
Not to thread jack, but to all of the quilting ladies, how did you learn how to quilt??? I would love to learn how. My Grandfather was a quilter. My mom talks about watching him quilt while he watched TV in the evenings. Unfortunately, he died before I was born and my mom never learned how. I really wish I knew how.
I haven't been this excited since I GREW A PERSON. Look! I grew peas, beans and cucumbers from a tiny little seed! I'm amazed by this! Must plant them in the ground ASAP. Also, I bought a "salsa planter" yesterday, for only $12.50!
@rosebud1308 diaryofaquilter.com has great beginner tutorials. She talks about selecting fabrics and tools you'll need, etc... and then has very easy to follow step-by-step instructions
I'm going to ask the scary question.... How much do the materials for a quilt cost?
I love to cook and bake, and when I really have time to dedicate to it, writing, both poetry and short fiction. My dream is to finish my book, but it's historical fiction and Ihaveno time for the research i need tiright now.
I also love to sing, but have been out of any organized effort at it for about 5 years. Im going to join our church choir this fall if I canfigureout child care for rehearsal.

During that imaginary thing called 'free time', I tend to make creative things for the kids. I just finished a crocheted jelly fish that entertains LO during car rides. She loves to watch it 'dance' in the car, or try to shove a tentacle in her mouth. I also love to practice my marksmanship with riffle or bow, cook from scratch, garden, and quilt/sew. As of February, I mostly sew things for LO because they are quick projects I can get done in a nap or two worth of time.
I learnt to quilt by making small lap or baby quilts using Elizabeth Hartman's books because I like her use of color and style. https://www.ohfransson.com
I sew (mostly costumes), cross stitch, and read. I have a crafting problem...I will buy loads of supplies to start a new craft, then they just collect dust. I've tried making dollhouse furniture, scrapbooking, knitting, and countless other things. I also would really love to plant a vegetable garden, but I didn't get one started this year and now we may be moving, so I don't want to plant it just to have to abandon it.
a bunch of moms who get together - some of them cook food/provide childcare while the others craft/sew. Projects are sold, recipe books are written. Profits are split among the moms, and the babies all get to play together!
I make soap. I stopped when I got my BFP because I didn't want the exposure to the chemicals. I wish I had more time to soap now, its so much fun. Thankfully I still have a decent stockpile left. I also enjoy gardening. Sometimes I use the herbs from my garden in my soap!
I love reading. I like to bake. I sew, some. Not very good at it, but it is enjoyable! I also start projects that take way too long to finish. For example, I have been "working on" a sequined Christmas stocking for DH. Started it...in 2010 or 2011. Still not even half done...

I love to craft (scrapbooks, cards, wreaths, gifts, etc). I love to cook and bake. I took a cake decorating class, and I'd like to get better at that. I read almost anything. I haven't had a ton of time for any if these, but I'm hoping to find a better balance soon.
I love to make banners and different party decorations from paper. Here is a banner I made for a friends baby shower.
@DesirreK I love that banner! I'm doing the decorations for our Father's Day BBQ and I really want to make a cool banner. Do you have any manly type ones (if there is such a thing?) to show off that can inspire me? I've looked on pinterest, but actually haven't seen as much as you'd expect.

@MissDemeanor Thanks! The only manly one I've done was hockey themed so I'm not much help. I just went on Etsy and searched "Father's Day Banner" and there were tons of great options. Have you looked on Etsy yet for inspiration? PM me if you need any help with anything!
Thanks! I never thought to steal ideas from Etsy! I'm going to be a cheapskate and just do a banner, and then buy matching balloons and napkins. Can anyone who loves planning parties think of things I'm missing? Ones that are cheap I mean, as this is for men, who won't appreciate the decor, no matter how hard I work or spend
Re: GTKY: hobbies
Been singing in some capacity since I was 6. It's my cathartic release.

We got a mantis shrimp tank for mother's day and threw my black and white clown fish in there as well.
I also like reading, baking sometimes, and some crafts. I made coasters for my sister as a housewarming present.
