Suggestions for nap schedule?

My daughter has always been a short napper. She takes FIVE 30 minute naps daily and it is such a pain but I cannot get her to sleep longer than 30 minutes. I would really like to attempt to transition to 3 naps a day, any suggestions on times??? She is 6 mos old and naps at 8, 10, 12:30, 2 and 4. Thanks!

  • Ok, Thanks. Maybe I'll just wait it out!

  • My LO is a short napper but it has been getting better. He is usually awake for 2-3 hour stretches, do we only have time in the day for 3 naps . Our schedule looks something like this:

    7:30 wake up, eat
    9:45 nap

    11:00 eat
    1:30 nap

    3:00 eat
    5:30 nap

    6:00 eat
    7:30 eat
    8:00 bed
  • When LO used to wake up after 30 mins I would go in as soon as she opened her eyes or stirred , picked her up and rocked her back to sleep . Most of the time she would fall asleep again for another 30min to an hour
  • The only thing that helped DS consolidate his naps is time.  He didn't start taking 2-3 longer naps a day until 8 months.
This. My LO was the same way but once he hit about 6 months he started consolidating them on his own. Every baby is different. She'll do it in her own time. I'd try @olga1311's suggestion too though. That worked for us once in awhile.

  • My baby is 8 months old and just started about 2 weeks ago to transition to 2 naps a day.  She wakes up usually around 6:30/7, is awake for 2 hours, then will take her morning nap around 8:30/9 and sleep for 45mins to an hour.  then she's up until around 1:30/2 in the afternoon.  her afternoon naps are usually an hour and a half to two hours, sometimes I usually go in and wake her up, because I like to keep her bedtime at 6:30/7pm, so i want her awake before 4pm.  She naps in her crib and almost ALWAYS during that afternoon nap she wakes up about 45 mins in.  She doesn't cry, just makes a few noises, so it's what makes me check the monitor (video) and i see her blink a few times and twist and turn, and eventually she just falls back asleep for another half hour or so.  SOO, i would suggest just letting baby be for about 10-15 after she wakes up to see if she puts herself back to sleep.
