@CL8badB‌ putting a one year picture in the thank you card is such a great idea!!! Maybe if I get a good enough picture of his at his party during the cake smash I can use that!

Etiquette aside, thank you cards aren't really done around here. Most times after a wedding or something a photo of the couple is given out, or a birth announcement type of thing after a baby is born. It's only immediate family coming to Ls party and I plan to give them all a photo from his one year photo session.

I say yes at any occasion (thank you for coming to our potluck) BUT I do try to make the thank you a keepsake with a picture of some sort so they don't just trash it

I said no, but I have sent a couple informal thank-you emails with pictures of LO enjoying some of the gifts. So really it's no with a side of kinda.

I am so terrible about thank you cards. I still have some waiting to be put in the mail for the gifts she got when she was born. (We didnt have a proper shower)

However, we're going to give a photo as a party favour. Its all immediate family who would want one anyway.

No. Thank you cards aren't big in my area. No one sends them after a birthday party.

Personally I really don't care if someone sends me a thank you or not but I will be sending them out for his birthday. I know family appreciates it and would be mad if they didn't get anything. I'm currently in the middle of sending thank yous to everyone who donated something to us after the fire, time consuming but people are so amazing they deserve it.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only person who has never received a Thank you note for a birthday party. I never thought it was rude or weird. People usually say a big "thank you" at the party. I never would've thought anything of it before the bump.

If you want to send pictures, just be sure the envelope is large enough or pic is small enough. I made that mistake once and had to buy different envelopes for the pictures I printed. =(

I sent Thank you cards for the gifts I received while I was pregnant, I didn't have a shower but family and friends still gave gifts.

I think Thank you cards are appropriate for a wedding, baby shower, or bridal shower. To me that's more of a "formal" event.

I personally think they are not needed for birthdays. It's just not something that I've ever seen, or what my family does. We are doing a bbq, at family's house, nothing formal about it. I'll say thanks for coming, and thanks for the gifts as they are walking out the door.
