Storing & Sharing Baby Photos

Our DD is 2.5 weeks old and we already have hundreds of photos of her!  I'd love to hear how other moms are storing/sharing photos of their LOs with family & friends!  My BFF has 7 year old twins and has a Shutterfly share site for her girls that she updates once monthly, and it automatically sends an email out to all members of the site on the 1st of the month letting them know which photos are new.  That is along the lines of what I'd like to do, but my problem with Shutterfly is that once you upload photos to the site you cannot {freely} download the full-size images, so that doesn't seem like a good archival system to me.

Any suggestions??

I didn't know that with Shutterfly... that's an odd feature!  I store all of my photos on iPhoto but I'm a mac junkie.  I then backup the photos once a month in case anything crashes.  I've also have my favorites on Google Drive, which I can just share out with people but my main form of sharing pics of LO is through an app/website called 23snaps.  It's free and I can share both pics and videos.  It's almost like FB but the only people who can see pics are people I invite .  It also tracks how old LO is in each picture.

  • I use flickr.  You can hand out links to albums for people who don't have accounts.

  • I like to use Dropbox. It's free, with a storage limit, and people I share with can download for free. If you share a folder and someone downloads Dropbox on their computer or smartphone, you are awarded extra storage.
  • Tinybeans is a baby book app and website that you can use to store photos, videos and milestones. You can also add followers so it acts as a private network and emails daily or weekly updates.
Full disclosure is that is my company but I promise you it is awesome and you can download your photos any time :)
You can contact me if you have any questions and congratulations on your new arrival.

  • I have been using Dropbox for a little over a year. I hadn't heard anything about them charging after a couple years. This is what they say on their web site: https://www.dropbox.com/help/73
  • I use the app Groovebook! You can upload 40-100 pictures per month, they print them as 4x6's and mail them to you all for $2.99! And if you're like me and have a ton of  pictures or want extra copies...you can order additional books of 40-100 pictures also for $2.99 per book! They are great quality and come right to your door! I saw them on SharkTank and I absolutely love it! The shipping/handling is already included in the $2.99! And it's a free app!
  • I just make sure to archive everything on an external hard drive. Then again, I'n not super sharey with anyone and everyone, heh.

  • Mostly Facebook.  We have a family page set up, so it doesn't annoy all of my other FB friends.

  • We've used Shutterfly as you mentioned. I decided I loved the share site, and really, we don't order prints anymore. I just order all my images on a CD from them (rather cheap) or we've been making photo books of DDs years. Much better than storing prints.

I like how I can upload my phone pics straight to Shutterfly too. You do have to order about $25 a year from them to keep unlimited space for pics.
