Odd smelling discharge

I'm almost 6 wks along....4 days ago I had some discharge that was white/yellowish that smelled horrible...almost like poop....but after that tiny bit of discharge....I took a shower and nothing smelled weird at all...1 day ago I had the same bit of discharge...same thing though...cleaned up and nothing else smelled bad...anyone else have this? I looked it up and the only thing I found was a message board that said it was my mucus plug forming...help..I'm nervous!

  • You may have A yeast infection which your doc can give you something to treat it fast. That's the only thing besides std that would cause a smell

  • That's what I thought...and I certainly do not have an std..thanks...I'll be contacting my dr today!

  • yeah, sounds like a yeast infection or vaginitis.  Doc can give you a prescription to clear it up and it won't hurt the baby
  • Nothing should smell like that so I think it's a bacteria or yeast infection. Good luck!

I mean, technically BV and yeast infections can be considered STD's because, well, they can be transmitted sexually between partners ;-) But both are caused by an imbalance of the normal vaginal flora, so its not like its a foreign bacteria that was introduced into your vag like chlamydia or syphilis.

Which brings me to my next point- if you do get diagnosed with a yeast infection or BV (bacterial vaginitis), then it might be wise to get your partner/SO/DH treated as well, since he can give the infection back to you if he doesn't get treated as well.
