Some of you may rember that lasr Wed I had to undergo a small surgery to eliminate some pieces of placenta that were left after delivery. It was supposed to be an easy procedure, but it wasn't so. Turned out, one of the fragments was so deep inside the uterus wall that when the doctor tried to pull it out, there was a tear. So I had to undergo a CT scan with contrast, several blood exams a day (b/c my hemoglobin levels were decreasing) and a NMR scan wth contrast. All of this was to check that there was no blood around in the abdomen, in which case I would undergo another procedure.
Finally, the NMR showed no blood, and that the fragment left is not irrorated by blood vessels, so after 4 days they sent me home. I'll have to go back on Wed for more bloodwork, and in a month for another exam: they'll check if the fragment is still the same, or is reduced, and if they have to take it out or we can leave it there because it's disappearing. In any case, in a month the uterus wall will be thicker, so the procedure will be easier.
Besides being very weak, not being able to stand for a couple of days, and a remaining feeling of swollen belly, what most concerned me was my LO. She stayed with me and my mom or husband at the hospital during the day, and at home with DH and MIL at night. I couldn't nurse her for almost 3 days b/c of the contrast, and I had to pump and throw away my milk. My milk supply decreased a bit as a result.
Now I am just grateful to be home. LO couldn't wait to latch, I can tell she missed her routine badly. I am nursing her as much as she wants, then giving supplement if she seems still hungry. Hope my milk increases if she keeps latching...
Thanks you all for your whishes.
At the end, it was longer than expected but it went well and I am feeling much better
