Schedule Help!

Hello. So my twins just turned 6 months (5 months adjusted) and I am just now trying to get them on the same schedule. I know I'm late to the game on doing this but I did like the one on one attention each got by being on staggered schedules but I now realize that I seriously can't get anything done if they don't nap at the same time. Here is my struggle. My son is a terrible napper. Usually 30 minutes at a time. My daughter will typically follow suit in the morning but in the afternoon she seems to want a longer nap and it KILLS me to wake a sleeping baby. And to be honest sometimes it's the other way around too sometimes he will want to sleep longer. What do you ladies do? Always wake the other when one wakes up? I feel like I need to get on board with this but I also feel like I'm short changing the baby who wants to sleep longer. Any tips on scheduling or opinions are welcome as I'm clearly so undecided as to how to do this. Thanks!

Re: Schedule Help!

  • For naps, they almost always go to sleep together. One is usually an earlier waker than the other. When he wakes up, we just chill until the other one gets up. If he's super fussy, I may feed him but if he's content then we jus play. I just feed the other one when he wakes then and get them back eating together at the next feeding.

We've done OUBU from the beginning and tandem feedings. It usually led to napping at the same time.

Pretty much all of this. We did the one up both up to eat most of the time to keep them on the same feeding schedule when they were newborns. (They are 6 months now). Some days they don't fall asleep for naps at the same time but I always put them down together and eventually they both fall asleep. If one wakes up before the other I let the sleeping one sleep. They don't usually sleep a whole lot longer than each other. If they do, I do try to wake the sleeping one if he's been sleeping 45mins-1hr longer so that they aren't totally on different schedules. I like the one on one time too but it's nice to have them sleeping at the same time to get things done or even take a little nap myself!
