Raging Back Pain

A few nights ago I woke up to a terrible back pain on the right side that I'd never experienced before. It hurt bad enough I had to get up and put a heating pad on it and sleep on the couch. I thought maybe I slept funny or hurt it at work. But it's been happening now every night after I've been laying down for a while, especially if I lay on that side. I knew back pain would be inevitable but thought it'd be later in pregnancy. I hope this isn't a sign that I'll be waking up every night in pain from now on!

Anyone else getting new back pains? I figure I'll mention it at my next appointment but I hate to be a baby about it if this is a common thing.

Re: Raging Back Pain

  • Does that girdle thing help? I debated on a pregnancy pillow only because I tend to toss and turn at night due to stuffy nose and thought it'd be pointless.

  • I talked about this with my doctor last week. It started up just a couple of weeks ago. It's some of the worst pain I've felt and it came out of nowhere! Mine happens a lot at work. It was happening at home too but I introduced the pregnancy pillow and it has completely changed my back problems. It will be hard to give up post-baby.

My doctor recommended getting a maternity belt. She said it's the easiest solution to reducing back pain because it's definitely only going to get worse the bigger you get. If you're having issues at work, she said to look at the Relax the Back store. She said they have a lot of options to help support your back through the next couple months.

Best of luck! Hope you start feeling better soon!
