I went in for an ultrasound on Tuesday, June 3rd at 37 weeks. They had been giving me twice weekly ultrasounds due to low fluid. So on Tuesday, my fluid was 5 and they had a hard time seeing 5. So I got sent up to the birthing center for a NST and then they had me wait to find out what to do. Eventually, the OB on call came in and said because of the low fluid and my hypertension, he wanted to induce me that day. So I called my boyfriend and my mom went and picked him up from work. I had dropped him off because his truck was getting fixed. So she brought him to the hospital and he picked up my car and went home to get our bags. I got started on cervadil around 5pm. I got cramps and some back pain. Then I got another dose of it later and I ended up in sooooo much pain. I was getting stadol every two hours (something I didn't want but I couldn't deal with the pain) and then I got so sick during the night. Thank god my boyfriend was there. I had awful back labor. The next day, the OB checked me and I had only dilated to a fingertip. So they started me on pitocin. I was on it all day and my contractions were coming every 2-3 minutes. They gradually increased the pitocin and they got to the highest dose, and the contractions stopped. So during the night, they stopped the pitocin and figured they'd give me a break and see what happens by morning. So in the morning, I hadn't had any contractions at all in the night and they checked me and I still hadn't dilated. The OB that day (Thursday) gave me cytotec in my cervix. I got a little crampy and back pain, but no big deal. 4 hours later, he gave me another dose. Same thing. 4 hours later, a third dose. Third time's a charm. I had awful contractions all night. I felt a pop and tben fluid. My water broke. So my boyfriend called the nurse toe let her know and she checked and sure enough, it had broken. I had even more contractions and then I got a dose of Stadol, which did nothing. Then after a while, I couldn't take it anymore, so I got an epidural. That was AMAZING! I was finally able to sleep. Sometime around 4, I sent my boyfriend home to get some sleep because I knew it would happen soon and he just couldn't get any sleep in the hospital. He called my mom to come sit with me. I fell asleep and when I woke up around 7am, she was there. I'm not sure what time she got there, but she was there. So when I woke up, they checked me and I was 3cm dilated, finally. I was having awful contractions, the epidural wasn't touching it. The anesthesiologist came in and turned it up. It worked for a while then stopped so he came in again. Around 11am, he was going to take it out and reposition it, but the nurses thought they should check me, just in case, and sure enough, I was 10cm. I pushed for two hours and couldn't get her out, so the OB used a vacuum and she came right out. She was 6 pounds 13 ounces and 20.5". My mom was there to hold a leg and rub my back. My boyfriend held the other leg and helped me get through it. They were amazing. I definitely couldn't have done it without them. I don't want to post a picture because I'm weird about having her picture on the internet. Welcome to the world, Mackenzie Harlow! Born June 6 at 1:39pm.
