3 month old is refusing to nurse....Help

My three month baby boy has been refusing to nurse for the past week. I have had to leave him with a sitter twice a week now for the past two week so he has been getting bottles. He starts out nursing just fine for about the first five minutes, once the milk flow starts to slow down he gets really agitated and angry. I really enjoy nursing him and am heart broken over the fact that he wants the bottle over me, I know the bottle is a lot less work for him but nevertheless it still upsets me. If anyone has any tips or has gone thru the same thing and has any suggestions I would love to hear them.

    Are you using the slow flow nipples on his bottles?

    What kind of nipples are you using (slow, med, fast flow)? Make sure they are slow flow.

    You could maybe switch bottles to one that is breastfeeding friendly. I believe the Medela Calma requires the baby to actually suck and work to get the milk out.

    Just went through this with my lo who is almost 5 months. He started after I sent him to the sitter too more often. I tried for a month with fighting him with feedings but turns out my milk supply was getting low and he was getting frustrated he wasn't getting enough to eat and how fast my flow was compared to the bottle. I just gave up this week and started bottle feeding. I miss the closeness of nursing him but it is much less stress on him and me. Now I feel relieved I can go out and don't have to worry about where can I feed him and timing feedings to stop and sit to feed him.

    Thanks ladies! I have been using the smallest nipple size for the Dr. brown bottles. This week has gone much better. I think it was a combo of milk flow and his gums have been bothering him also. I went and got him some teething rings and such and he is nursing much better.
