Hi ladies. Does anyone have any experience with Paragard? My body doesn't really agree with birth controls that release hormones. I'm looking for info both good and bad. TIA!
i just got this put in on Friday. This has no hormones so it shouldn't affect you in the same way. It was slightly crampy to get it put in and a little after but nothing compared to labor cramps. It is 100% unnoticable 2 days later.
Okay great thanks. I have experienced serious weight gain, mood swings etc with birth control in the past so I am hoping to find something I can actually use.
This is my second time w paragard. I'm like you and do not do well w hormonal bc. My only complaint about paragard is heavier periods, and really bad cramps. Sometimes I cramp when ovulating too. But I will take these side effects over what hormones do to me.
Aren't there posts about IUDs every day on here? I'm pretty sure I've been commenting on them daily for about 3 weeks now...
Paragard put me in the hospital with early symptoms of pelvic inflammatory disease for the second time (first time was from Mirena). Definitely talk with your doctor about every possible risk.

I'm sorry if it is a duplicate question or thread. Every time I go to read something on the site a cry, spit up, or explosive poop stops me in my tracks and I never get to read far enough into anything to know if I am re-asking a question.
I had Paragard, twice, and loved it...until I ended up pregnant.
The first time I had it after the birth of my son, I had heavier periods and more cramps but nothing I couldn't deal with it. The no hormones and the no worry birth control was worth it. I had it removed after about 2 years to get PG and did the following cycle.
I had it put in about 6 months after my DD 1 was born. Had absolutely no side effects. No heavier period or cramps. Found out I was pregnant about 15 months later. When I had it removed because of the pregnancy, my strings were coiled but the IUD was sitting outside my cervix. So even if I would have been checking my strings I wouldn't have felt them down any lower because they were coiled high.
My DH got a vasectomy last week because we are soooooo done, but I would've have gotten one put in again if I wouldn't have gotten pregnant. Now we were just too nervous.
