Crib/swaddle question

I've got a question for you ladies...

Back info: I'm transitioning LO to her crib from the bassinet in our room. She is currently sleeping in the halo swaddle sack. She had been swaddled arms in up until last night when we tried both arms out and she did surprisingly well...but this was still in the bassinet. During nap time she has started to occasionally sleep on her side (un-swaddled of course) and has rolled from tummy to back a few times.

Question-
If I want to put her in her crib already, can I still use the halo swaddle sack with her arms out? I guess I'm just unsure if it's considered safe to use it in the crib with all the room for her to move around being that she can't move much in the bassinet. Sorry if this is a silly question, I'm genuinely not sure.

Thanks!!

Edited: sorry for the long explanation!

Re: Crib/swaddle question

  • I'm curious as to what about the sleep sack has you concerned it might not be safe?
LO does really well arms out in the sleep sack in the crib. She has also taken to sleeping on her side and can roll and move plenty with the sack. I also find it helps not get her feet stuck in the rails ad much when she's wiggling about :)

    Here's what I did:

LO was in my room in P&P, swaddled for the first 3 months ish. When she started breaking out and rolling over back to tummy, I got rid of them and transitioned her to arms out sleep sack. Around this time I also decided it would be time to nap her in her crib. So, since I'm BF'ing and we bed share, she sleeps in her P&P with sleep sack to start the night, then goes in bed with me, then takes a nap in the AM in her crib. She does great and hasn't given me hell about not swaddling and all that. Hopefully yours does also.

And yes, sleep sack in the crib is just fine. Some babies come right home and sleep in their cribs, never sleeping in anything else so it's perfectly fine. As you can see from an earlier post/poll, you may have some issues with baby getting stuck in slats even in a sleep sack, but that's about it. Good luck.
