Our DD is 2.5 weeks old and we already have hundreds of photos of her! I'd love to hear how other moms are storing/sharing photos of their LOs with family & friends! My BFF has 7 year old twins and has a Shutterfly share site for her girls that she updates once monthly, and it automatically sends an email out to all members of the site on the 1st of the month letting them know which photos are new. That is along the lines of what I'd like to do, but my problem with Shutterfly is that once you upload photos to the site you cannot {freely} download the full-size images, so that doesn't seem like a good archival system to me.
flickr is what I'm currently using. I take 90% of my pictures from my iPhone and it's so easy to just use their mobile app to upload them. I'm not sure what the quality of downloading them back is though.
I also share all photo's of DD on our own photo stream on my iPhone. I then "invited" those who had iphones to view the shared stream.
This is a bit more complicated, but we have cloud storage from an external hard drive that also serves as our wireless router. It's a WD MyCloud. You can create segments on the hard drive that family and friends can access remotely, so we set up a family share and put a folder in there for baby pictures.
My husband takes 90% of our photos with his iphone. He uses the icloud shared photo streams with his parents. It only works between iphones and ipads, but it works for us. Other than his parents we just put up a few pics on facebook occasionally. I'm fairly sure that no one but us (and maybe grandparents) want to see every single photo ever taken of my kid, so I don't worry about a photo sharing site. As for storing, they are all on our computers, and I put together a photo book yearly with the best ones.
