3rd Trimester

*sigh* no sleep

I'm sure this is mother nature's way of getting me ready for tons of sleepless nights but UGH can I just complain a moment??
I'm 38 weeks, 3 cm dilated @ 80% effaced (last they checked). Dr is guessing DD is 7ish lbs. she feels that big and maybe bigger. My stomach is huge and I cannot get comfortable to save my life. I want this baby to get here so I can sit/stand with help from a crane, so I can lay down without pain, so that (fingers crossed) if she sleeps well, I can sleep well. Bc it's definitely been a trend: me waking up numerous times at night. *sigh
Rant over :)

  • I know everyone says, " just wait til the baby's born. Then you'll get no sleep at all!" But for me that was not true. I couldn't sleep more than an hour at a time during my 3rd trimester, but after lo was born I actually could sleep! You may not get a lot of sleep with a baby, but the sleep you do get is soooo much better. At least for me. Hang in there! It'll get better soon!!

  • It doesn't help but know that you are not alone! Some nights I sleep alright (minus the 5 pee breaks) & some nights I lay awake listening to everyone else snore.

Worse for me is the not being able to get comfortable more during the day than at night. If I sit up straight I feel better but am apparently squishing baby, bc she starts kicking & moving like crazy & eventually catches a nerve or rib & I get a sharp pain, & if I lean back, like in the recliner, it kills my back. Sometimes just standing is my best option lol

The end is near! Enjoy what moments you can & congrats in your soon to be new bundle!
  • Welcome to being 38 weeks pregnant? Pretty normal sounding, you'll get physically comfortable sleep when the baby gets here, just less of it than you are now.
thanks.  this is our 2nd so i completely expected this phase, however i just felt like complaining.  ;)

  • thanks ladies!  i'm so glad i can come on here and vent, although we all know it's a necessary evil.  i agree that post-baby the sleep is better and more comfortable, although definitely less frequent.  i think just finding a comfortable position will make me happy again, whether i'm awake or asleep. :)

  • Totally complain-worthy.

I'm the same, can't sleep and just roam the house or play solitaire til the small hours. Sometimes I get comfy and just can't sleep, sometimes comfy isn't even nearly achievable.

We can console ourselves knowing it's not long now, not long now!
