Let's hear it for New York...

H and I are planning a trip to New York for a couple days while LO spends some quality time with my parents!

For anyone that lives there or has been there...what is your must see attraction?

We would like to visit one of the museums (natural history vs MoMA)...can't decide which one though.

    I love walking through Central Park and going to the Met. Also just poking around the Village.

    I'd go to the Met or Natural History over MoMA. The high line is cool and I love the west village. I avoid Times Square at all costs. Grand Central is worth a look.

    I agree with some of the previous posts... The Met or Natural history are great. And I'd definitely see a Broadway show (Phantom of the Opera, Mamma Mia, & Chicago are some of my favorites.) Walk around Central Park and at night, check out Times Square (yes, it gets packed but if you've never been, it's an experience and it's worth seeing!) You CAN'T come to NY and not go to Times Square :) In Times Square, you can check out Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum and M&M's World. Have fun!!!

    I've never had the chance to be a tourist in NYC so I have no advice, but have a great time!

    If you don't live somewhere (or plan on traveling someplace) where you have the opportunity to see such things as dinosaur exhibits, MoNH is not to be missed. That said, seeing a giant wall of waterlillies at MoMA is pretty damn awe-inspiring as well.

    I suggest grabbing lunch and spending some time in Bryant Park. There is so much to do and see there- check out the website in advance for a schedule in advance- and I consider it to be one of the most under-rated places in NYC.

    Not to hijack this thread but how stroller friendly is New York City?

    If you plan to take the subway a lot, you'll have an easier time with a carrier, because most subway stations have a lot of stairs, and there are few escalators/elevators. That said, if you plan to be mostly walking around, stroller will be fine (though parts of Midtown are VERY crowded, so a stroller can be hard in and around Times Square). I would avoid trying to take a stroller on the subway during rush hour if at all possible, though. You literally may not fit. I almost always use the carrier, FWIW.

    Also, it is legal in NYC to ride in a taxi with an infant without a car seat, but YMMV how comfortable you are with that.

    Yeah, for a teeny baby, I'd use a bucket, but if you're going 10mph in traffic...eh. That said, the subway is usually faster than driving anyway!

    ETA: all the car services that do airport pickups will provide a car seat if you ask; I would DEFINITELY do that if you aren't bringing your own, since all the airports are accessible only by highway (assuming you're flying).

    Yay NY! Agree with all the previous posts. Broadway is a must and if you can get ticked to see Wicked ... You'll LOVE it! Also the Toys R Us in Times Square is insanely amazing. Ride the Ferris wheel inside :)
